Mavericks waive Jamal Sampson

The Dallas Mavericks announced today that they have requested waivers on F/C Jamal Sampson.
Sampson (6-11/235) appeared in three preseason games and averaged 1.3 points, 1.3 rebounds and 3.7 minutes before spraining his left ankle. He signed as a free agent on October 1.
The Mavericks roster now stands at 17 players.

The San Antonio Spurs announced today that the franchise will retire Avery Johnson’s number. Johnson’s No. 6 will join James Silas, George Gervin, Johnny Moore, David Robinson and Sean Elliott in the rafters in the AT&T Center.
