The AP reports: Given the need for a point guard, Doc Rivers decided to start Gabe Pruitt so he could have a chance to work with the starters. Pruitt scored 11 points with 12 rebounds, adding seven assists with six turnovers… Kevin Garnett, who scored eight points with eight rebounds while playing sparingly in the first and third quarters, said Pruitt has had plenty of time to learn in practice while guarding Rondo, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen… Ryan Anderson scored 20 for the Nets, who lost to the Celtics 111-108 on Thursday without any of the Big Three playing.

The AP reports: Kevin Ollie made four free throws in the final 16 seconds to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 111-107 preseason victory over the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. Ryan Gomes scored 20 points on 8-for-14 shooting from the field for the Timberwolves (5-1). Mike Miller had 17 points, Al Jefferson added 15, Craig Smith 13 and Randy Foye 12. Foye also had 15 assists… Anthony Carter led Denver (4-1) with 17 points, Carmelo Anthony added 15, J.R. Smith 14, Linas Kleiza 13, Kenyon Martin 12 and Nene 10. Kleiza shot 11-for-12 on free throws.

The AP reports: Jordan Farmar scored 16 points and sparked a fourth-quarter surge with an electrifying dunk over Chris Bosh, leading the Los Angeles Lakers to a 112-89 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night. Kobe Bryant had 13 points and six assists in 24 minutes before sitting out the fourth quarter. Trevor Ariza also was a factor in the final period, scoring six of his 14 points. Lamar Odom, still adjusting to his new role as a reserve, had 10 points in 19 minutes. Anthony Parker led Toronto with 14 points. Just 16 days earlier, Parker’s sister Candace – who plays for the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks – became the first player to be honored as that league’s MVP and rookie of the year in the same season.

The AP reports: Al Thornton had 23 points and 11 rebounds, rookie Eric Gordon scored 12 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter after getting into early foul trouble, and the Los Angeles Clippers beat FC Barcelona 114-109 in an exhibition game on Sunday as part of the annual Staples Shootout. Ersan Ilyasova scored 20 points and Jaka Lakovic added 19 for Barcelona, which lost 108-104 to the Lakers on Saturday night. Juan Carlos Navarro, the only player on the team who participated at the Beijing Olympics when Spain won the silver medal, had 11 points in 29 minutes after getting 34 points in 41 minutes against countryman and former Memphis Grizzlies teammate Pau Gasol… The Clippers again played without Tim Thomas (groin strain), Marcus Camby (bruised heel) and Baron Davis (sprained finger).
Warriors waive Dan Dickau
The Golden State Warriors have waived guard Dan Dickau, Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Mullin announced today.
Dickau, who was originally signed as a free agent October 1, appeared in two of Golden State’s first four preseason games, averaging 5.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.00 steals in 12.0 minutes per game.
The Warriors roster now stands at 16 players.

The AP reports: Gerald Green scored 29 points and Josh Howard had 25 to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 124-109 preseason victory over the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night. Dirk Nowitzki added 21 points and Brandon Bass had 16 points and nine rebounds for the Mavericks (4-2). Green went 10-for-12 from the field, 4-for-5 from 3-point range, in only 20 minutes. Kevin Martin led the Kings (1-5) with 26 points.

The AP reports: Tony Parker had 19 points and eight assists in 23 minutes, and the San Antonio Spurs beat the Indiana Pacers 106-98 in a preseason game Saturday night. Matt Bonner, starting in place of the resting Tim Duncan, scored 15 points and Michael Finley added 13 on 4-of-6 shooting from 3-point territory for the Spurs (3-2). Marquis Daniels led Indiana (3-3) with 18 points, going 4-of-6 from behind the arc… Troy Murphy, playing for the first time this preseason after missing the first five games with a sore left foot, scored 12 points in 19 minutes while shooting 5-of-7.

The AP reports: Carlos Boozer had 17 points and 15 rebounds, and the Utah Jazz beat the Chicago Bulls 88-80 in a preseason game on Saturday night despite losing Deron Williams to injury in the first quarter. Williams left the game after falling awkwardly and spraining his left ankle. Williams had X-rays, which were negative, but he didn’t return to the game… Derrick Rose, the No. 1 overall pick, started and scored 11 points in 40 minutes. Tyrus Thomas, who fouled out in the fourth quarter, led the Bulls (1-4) with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Larry Hughes scored 10 points.

The AP reports: Delonte West scored six of his team-high 17 points down the stretch as the Cavaliers, trailing 91-80 with 4:14 left, finished the game on a 20-2 run. Daniel Gibson made the go-ahead basket with 1:22 left… Andre Iguodala scored 17 points for Philadelphia and Donyell Marshall added 15 on 5-of-6 3-pointers. Lou Williams also scored 15. LeBron James scored 16 points in 26 minutes… Cleveland center Zydrunas Ilgauskas, who had 17 points, was given a technical in the third quarter.

The AP reports: Chris Bosh scored 26 points, Jermaine O’Neal added 20, and the Toronto Raptors capitalized on the absence of three injured Clippers regulars to beat Los Angeles 93-89 on Saturday. O’Neal, preparing for his first season with the Raptors after eight years with Indiana and four with Portland, finished 7-for-15 from the field in 33 minutes and grabbed nine rebounds. Bosh had 11 boards. Reserve Ricky Davis led the Clippers (3-1) with 14 points. First-round draft pick Eric Gordon, the third player off the bench, had 10 points in 18 minutes after scoring 33 points in Wednesday’s victory over Sacramento.
