Denver Nuggets forward Jeff Green sustained a left finger sprain and hand fracture in the fourth quarter of last night’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
He will be re-evaluated in four weeks and updates will be provided as necessary.
The Nuggets are 20-11 this season, which ties them with the Memphis Grizzlies for the best record in the Western conference.
Coming off the bench for most of the season, Green is averaging 7.5 points and 2.8 rebounds in 19.3 minutes per game.
The Denver Nuggets have signed forward Jeff Green to a multiyear contract, President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly announced today.
“We are very excited to welcome Jeff and his family to Denver,” said Connelly. “He brings a wealth of experience to our team; his impact will be felt both on the court and in the locker room.”
Green’s Nuggets contract is reportedly a two-year, $10 million deal.
Green, 6-8, 235, appeared in 68 games (38 stars) for the Brooklyn Nets last season, averaging 11.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 27.0 minutes while shooting 49.2% from the field and a career-high 41.2% from three. Green scored in double figures in 42 games and had 16 games making three or more three-point field goals. He also played in six playoff games (one start), averaging 8.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists, shooting 55.6% from three in 24.7 minutes.
The 14-year NBA veteran has appeared in 967 career games (583 starts) for Oklahoma City, Boston, Memphis, Cleveland, Washington, Orlando, Utah, Los Angeles Clippers, Houston and Brooklyn. He holds career averages of 12.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists, shooting 44.4% from the field and 34.0% from three-point range.
The 34-year-old native of Cheverly, Maryland was drafted by the Boston Celtics with the fifth overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft after spending three seasons at Georgetown University. Following his rookie season, Green was selected to the 2007-08 NBA All-Rookie First Team.
The Brooklyn Nets have signed free agent forward Jeff Green.
Per multiple reports, Green’s contract is for one year, $2.56 million.
Green (6’8”, 235) has appeared in 908 career games (546 starts) across 12 NBA seasons with Houston (2020), Utah (2019), Washington (2018-19), Cleveland (2017-18), Orlando (2016-17), Los Angeles Clippers (2016), Memphis (2015-16), Boston (2011-15) and Oklahoma City/Seattle (2007-11), registering averages of 13.0 points on 44.2 percent shooting from the field, 33.4 percent from 3-point range and 80.5 percent from the free-throw line, 4.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 29.5 minutes per game.
He split the 2019-20 season between the Jazz and Rockets, appearing in 48 games and averaging 9.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 20.0 minutes per game. Most recently, Green finished the 2019-20 campaign with Houston, recording averages of 12.2 points on 56.4 percent shooting from the field, 35.4 percent from 3-point range and 85.7 percent from the free-throw line, 2.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 22.6 minutes per contest in 18 games. The Maryland native has made seven playoff appearances in his career, including a trip to the NBA Finals in 2018 with the Cavaliers, and has averaged 10.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 27.4 minutes per game in 72 playoff contests.
Per the New York Post, “finding a seasoned power forward backup for Durant and replacement for Wilson Chandler has been on general manager Sean Marks’ to-do list. He got a solid one on a team-friendly contract, using the lure of a star-laden contender to get the 34-year-old to take less for a chance at a championship.”
Green was originally selected with the fifth overall pick in the first round of the 2007 NBA Draft by Boston before being traded on draft night to Seattle. In his rookie season with the SuperSonics, Green earned NBA All-Rookie First Team honors after posting averages of 10.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 28.2 minutes per game in 80 games. The 34-year-old spent three years (2004-07) at Georgetown, garnering All-Big East honors twice and securing the Big East Player of the Year award in his third and final collegiate season.
The Nets roster for the 2020-21 NBA season is packed with talent, and veteran forward Jeff Green will reportedly be joining the mix. Via the New York Daily News:
The Nets continue to build a roster in Kevin Durant’s vision, agreeing to terms with veteran forward Jeff Green. Durant and Green have a relationship dating back to their days as teammates on the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Nets’ acquisition of Green addresses a key need for a floor-spacing, versatile two-way player at the four. He has played this role on a number of potential contenders, including last season’s Houston Rockets and the 2017-18 Cleveland Cavaliers…
In 18 games with the Rockets last season, Green averaged 12 points and shot 56% from the field and 35% from three.

Entering the 2019-2020 season, one of the narratives surrounding the Utah Jazz was the notion that they would have good depth after signing players such as Jeff Green and Ed Davis in free agency.
That proved to not be the case, as Green and Davis were an utter failure. Additionally, a third offseason signee, Emmanuel Mudiay, had a few good moments but nothing great and returnee Dante Exum was traded at Christmastime after once again not being impactful because of injury.
Before the Exum trade, which brought Jordan Clarkson to Utah from the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Jazz bench was 29th among 30 teams in points per game and routinely gave up leads the starting unit had built. Clarkson proved to be a huge boost, and Utah was 19th in bench scoring after his arrival through the end of the season. Still not wonderful, but a huge improvement.
The good news for the Jazz was that the unit of Donovan Mitchell, Joe Ingles, Royce O’Neale, Bojan Bogdanovic and Rudy Gobert was arguably the best 5-man unit in the entire league with a net rating of 13.7 in 570 minutes, and the one replacing Ingles with Mike Conley wasn’t too far behind, with a net rating of 9.7 in 381 minutes.
Conley reportedly has an early termination option for his contract this offseason, but considering his salary next season for the Jazz would be over $34 million, there’s a good chance he’ll elect to stick with the team in 2020-21.
Jordan Clarkson is a free agent this offseason. He definitely helped the Jazz this year, and they’d be smart to try to bring him back — if salary demands match up, of course.
The Utah Jazz waived forward Jeff Green today.

The Wizards had been eerily quiet through the first two days of free agency this summer as others around the league made bold moves to change the NBA landscape. But on July 3, Washington agreed to a one-year minimum contract with Jeff Green, a favorite son of the D.C. region for his accomplishments at nearby Northwestern High School and then at Georgetown University.
Green was brought in to replace Mike Scott, who had departed to join the L.A. Clippers. On paper, it appears the Wizards did quite well for themselves. Scott was an important piece and will be difficult to replace. But Green can do many of the things Scott provided for the Wizards and will be paid about half of what Scott is earning in L.A. Those savings allowed Washington to make other moves in an offseason with few resources at their disposal within the NBA’s salary cap.

Green (6-9, 235) has averaged 13.2 points and 4.6 rebounds while shooting .438 from the floor and .332 from three-point range in 783 NBA games (498 starts) over 10 NBA seasons with Seattle/Oklahoma City, Boston, Memphis, Los Angeles Clippers, Orlando and Cleveland. Last season, he posted 10.8 points and 3.2 rebounds while shooting .477 from the field and .312 from three-point range in 78 games (14 starts) en route to helping the Cavs reach the NBA Finals.
Over his career, Green has averaged 9.8 points and 3.5 rebounds while shooting .331 from three-point range in 60 playoff games (17 starts). The 31-year-old forward has averaged double figures in nine of his 10 NBA seasons and scored the 10,000th point of his career last season (Jan. 15 vs. Golden State).
Signing with the Wizards marks a homecoming for Green, who was originally selected with the fifth overall pick by Boston in the 2007 NBA Draft out of Georgetown (and was named All-Rookie First Team in 2007-08). He played three years as a Hoya, where he received numerous accolades including Big East Player of the Year in 2007. Green was born in Cheverly, MD, and attended Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, where he led the NHS Wildcats to the state basketball championship in 2004.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed forward Jeff Green.
According to Cleveland.com, “Joe Vardon has reported that Green will receive a one-year, $2.3 million deal — a prove-it veteran’s minimum contract that is guaranteed for the 2017-18 campaign. Green made $15 million last season. The 30-year-old forward, who has spent time with five different organizations during his career, is coming off a down year, averaging a career-low 9.2 points and 3.1 rebounds with the 29-win Orlando Magic.”
Green (6-9, 235) spent last season with the Orlando Magic, appearing in 69 contests (11 starts) with averages of 9.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in 22.2 minutes per game. He also shot a career-high .863 from the foul line and scored in double figures on 35 occasions.
A nine-year NBA veteran, Green has played in 705 games (484 starts) over his career with the Seattle SuperSonics/Oklahoma City Thunder, Boston Celtics, Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Clippers and Orlando, owning averages of 13.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 31.1 minutes per game. He has also appeared in 38 postseason contests (15 starts), averaging 11.0 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 29.3 minutes per game.
The 6-9 forward, who hails from Cheverly, Maryland, and played collegiately at Georgetown, was originally selected by Boston with the fifth overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft before being traded to Seattle prior to the start of his rookie campaign. He earned All-Rookie First Team honors in 2007-08 and has averaged double figures in scoring in eight of his nine NBA seasons.

The Orlando Magic have signed free agent forward Jeff Green. The deal is reportedly just for one year, $15 million.
“Jeff (Green) is a veteran that brings versatility and depth to our frontcourt,” said General Manager Rob Hennigan. “He will provide tremendous leadership to our team, both on and off the floor, and we are extremely excited to welcome him into the Magic family.”
Green (#34, 6’9”, 235, 8/28/86) played in 80 regular season games with both Memphis and the L.A. Clippers last season (41 starts), averaging 11.7 ppg., 4.2 rpg. and 1.7 apg. in 28.2 minpg. He scored in double figures 47 times and had 20+ points 11 times, including a season-high 30 points on Jan. 25 vs. Orlando. Green became the first player in Grizzlies franchise history to record 20+ points off the bench in three consecutive games. He also appeared in six playoff contests (one start), averaging 10.2 ppg., 3.2 rpg. and 1.00 stlpg. in 26.4 minpg.
Originally selected by Boston in the first round (fifth overall) of the 2007 NBA Draft, Green has appeared in 636 career NBA regular season games (473 starts) with Seattle, Oklahoma City, Boston, Memphis and the L.A. Clippers, averaging 14.0 ppg., 4.9 rpg. and 1.7 apg. in 32.0 minpg. He has also played in 38 career NBA playoff contests (15 starts), averaging 11.0 ppg., 4.1 rpg. and 1.3 apg. in 29.3 minpg.
