Jackson attended Boston College for three seasons, earning First Team All-ACC honors as a junior while averaging 18.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. He was selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder with the 24th overall pick of the 2011 NBA Draft.

Hornets trade Mason Plumlee to Clippers for Reggie Jackson

The LA Clippers this past Thursday acquired Mason Plumlee in a trade with the Charlotte Hornets for Reggie Jackson and a second-round draft pick, announced Lawrence Frank, Clippers president of basketball operations.

“Mason will help fortify our center position with his energy and playmaking ability,” said Frank. “He is an impressive passer with great vision. Our team will enjoy playing with him.”

Plumlee, 32, appeared in 56 games for the Hornets this season, averaging 12.2 points, 9.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists. Originally selected with the 22nd overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, Plumlee has appeared in 717 games with the Brooklyn Nets, Portland Trail Blazers, Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons and Hornets, averaging 8.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 59.2% from the field. The 7-foot-0 center has also appeared in 60 career playoff games and was named to the 2013-14 All-Rookie First Team.

“Reggie has played a vital role in many of our finest moments,” said Frank. “Two years ago, he helped lead us to our first conference finals, and last season, he helped carry us when we were hampered by injuries. He made a lot of fans here, and a lot of friends. His name and his smile will always hold a special place in this organization’s heart.”

Jackson, 32, appeared in 52 games (38 starts) for the Clippers this season, averaging 10.9 points, 3.5 assists and 2.2 rebounds in 25.7 minutes. The 6-foot-2 guard holds career averages of 12.9 points, 4.2 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 755 appearances across 12 NBA seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Detroit Pistons and Clippers. In his four seasons with the Clippers, Jackson ranks seventh in franchise history in total made three-pointers (392). LA Clippers re-sign Reggie Jackson

The LA Clippers have re-signed free agent guard Reggie Jackson.

“Reggie elevates our team with his energy, his confidence, and his ability to be at his best in the biggest moments,” said Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank. “He was an important part of our team last season, and he will continue to be going forward.”

Per multiple reports, Jackson’s new Clippers contract is for two years, $22 million.

Jackson, 31, appeared in 67 games (43 starts) for the Clippers last season, averaging 10.7 points, 3.1 assists and 2.9 rebounds while shooting a career-high 43.3 percent from beyond the arc. The 6-foot-2 guard also appeared in 19 games (17 starts) in the postseason, averaging 17.8 points, 3.4 assists and 3.2 rebounds while shooting 40.8 percent from three and a career-high 48.4 percent from the field. During the postseason, Jackson ranked second in the NBA in total three-pointers made (58) and 10th in total points (338) and plus-minus (+107).

Per the Los Angeles Times, “Jackson joined the Clippers in 2020 after having his contract bought out in Detroit, where a string of injuries hampered his initial effectiveness with the Pistons. Despite being reunited with George, Jackson’s first months with the Clippers hardly predicted a bright future. He called the communication with former coach Doc Rivers about his role sparse and endured rocky performances during the league’s 2020 restart in Florida. He spent two months following that season evaluating whether he still had the passion to return.”

Jackson holds career averages of 12.6 points, 4.2 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 628 appearances across 10 NBA seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Detroit Pistons and Clippers.

Born in Pordenone, Italy, Jackson played three collegiate seasons at Boston College before being selected by the Thunder with the 24th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. At Boston College, Jackson was named All-ACC First Team during his junior season in 2010-11.

Born in Pordenone, Italy, Jackson played three collegiate seasons at Boston College before being selected by the Thunder with the 24th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. At Boston College, Jackson was named All-ACC First Team during his junior season in 2010-11.

Role change for Pistons guard Reggie Jackson

The Pistons are off to a nice start this NBA season, and deserve some attention. Blake Griffin is leading the team in scoring with 28.4 ppg, followed by Andre Drummond at 18.4 ppg and then Reggie Jackson at 16.8 ppg. Here’s the Detroit News with a look at Jackson and how his role has changed:

Role change for Pistons guard Reggie Jackson

Reggie Jackson stood in the corner, hands on his sides, watching as Blake Griffin dribbled and initiated the offense. Jackson waiting to see how Griffin would break down the defense, as the safety valve in case his defender cheated toward the paint to help on Griffin’s drive.

The defender dipped in just enough to create space for Griffin to find Jackson for a corner 3-pointer.

Swish.

It’s a new era for Jackson — and the rest of the Pistons, in the first year of Dwane Casey’s offense. No longer is the offense predicated on high-pick-and-roll plays with Jackson handling the ball and Griffin or Andre Drummond running to the rim, giving Jackson a choice.

The numbers are showing that the Pistons are benefiting from the switch, with Jackson operating more from the outside. More than half (55 percent) of his field-goal attempts are 3-pointers and he’s shooting 36.1 percent from beyond the arc, which would be a career high.

Pistons need Reggie Jackson healthy and productive

For the Pistons to be decent, or even good, they need serious production from guard Reggie Jackson. Here’s the Detroit Free Press with the latest on that front:

Reggie Jackson seeking bounce-back season for Pistons

The technical term for Jackson’s condition is tendinosis, which basically is chronic tendinitis.

He recently completed a 16-week protocol featuring leg strengthening exercises. His basketball activity had been regulated to light shooting and some jumping off one leg.

Although he should be ready, Van Gundy said last week Jackson would not practice twice on the days the Pistons have two sessions.

The tendinitis has bothered Jackson since at least when the Oklahoma City Thunder picked him in the first round of the 2011 NBA draft.

Reggie Jackson will receive plasma injection for injured knee

Here’s Michigan Live reporting on Pistons point guard Reggie Jackson, who is dealing with a lingering knee issue:

Reggie Jackson will receive plasma injection for injured knee

Reggie Jackson has decided on a course of action to help with the pain in his left knee, and it’s a familiar one.

The Detroit Pistons point guard will receive a platelet-rich plasma injection Monday in New York, coach Stan Van Gundy confirmed, the same non-surgical procedure he underwent while dealing with knee tendinitis in 2011.

The procedure culls blood from the body, spins it and injects it into the affected area to help relieve pain. There is no word yet on a timetable for Jackon’s return, but Van Gundy said last week it could be up to six to eight weeks…

Jackson made his final decision on Friday after consulting team doctors, his agent and getting a second opinion, Van Gundy said. He will be on crutches for up to a week after and will not travel with the Pistons next week for preseason games at Atlanta and Philadelphia.

Brandon Jennings has big praise for Reggie Jackson

Detroit Pistons guard Reggie Jackson is averaging 20.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game this season. Guard Brandon Jennings is just set to return from injury and should be in the mix soon. Here’s Michigan Live with more:

Brandon Jennings has big praise for Reggie Jackson

Brandon Jennings was back in uniform and active, though he did not play against the Heat. Jennings said his role until Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy calls upon him is “to be a great leader on the bench and cheer guys on, things like that.” Jennings, who is one of the Pistons’ leaders in social-media use, posted on Twitter that he believes Jackson is the best point guard in the Eastern Conference right now. “He’s definitely living up to what people thought he was going to be. That’s why I say, right now, he’s playing like the best point guard in the East,” Jennings said. “Two-time player of the week, that’s pretty hard to get. We’re over .500 and things like that, so I think he’s doing a great job. Me, I keep it real on Twitter. I don’t care. I say what I feel and I just feel like he’s the best point guard in the East. First-time starter, a guy who’s had a lot of pressure on him, I think he’s handled it really well.”
