Salmons deal may not happen

I've been hearing that there is some sort of snag and it might not happen.
Don't have much more info than that.
I've got good sources as some of you that have been here for a long time know.

Fuubs 07-20-2006 08:19 PM

well whats the snag and where did u hear it from????

craigthomasb 07-20-2006 08:44 PM

basically, it was said salmons was meant to sign today and he hasnt and hes put 2 and 2 together and come up with a story

Yogi4mvp 07-20-2006 08:52 PM

Not exactly.
I have a lot of media contacts and that's what one of them told me.
Believe me if you want or don't, I don't care.
You'll see it in tomorrow's papers either way.

GoRapz 07-20-2006 10:03 PM

why didnt he sign today?

niaz555 07-20-2006 11:15 PM

this must be a joke!!! i had so much expectations from this john salmons deal... hes a very good player...

This is kind of unexpected, although, it was taking awhile for the signing to happen after he apparently verbally agreed, I got kinda nervous.

Jalen5 07-21-2006 04:43 AM

philly wants to keep him?

Here is the Link from the Toronto Star today:

I can say I am very relieved that this signing did not go through. A lot of people like me felt this dude was way overpayed given his production levels (7.5ppg 2.7rpg, 2.7apg) especially since I think he will just be a sub behind Anthony Parker (whom I am VERY excited to see play). What excites me even more in the article is that this cancelling may be because of another upcoming trade!! Now I thought Colangelo was done with trades since all our moveable assest have been moved, but who else is ready to go?! This maybe the end of Joey Graham's career as a Raptor.. can Bryan get a taker for Alvin Williams as well? What is the rule on trading players we just recently acquired (i.e. Rasho)? If no trade does happen, we may be signing Eddie House since he is another combo guard but he can shoot the 3 (which we need right now and Salmon can't) and House can be had for cheaper too.

So what's the dillio? Is he having second thoughts or is there a bigger trade in the works? I think that maybe Toronto might5 be smart NOT to sign Salmons to that deal. Suns got Banks at 5 years at $21 Million. And they are asking 5 years at $23 Million? I don't understand this. Colangelo needs to look at the cap situation and make sure he is making the right decision. I think now that Phoenix has that backup point guard they were looking for, they should re-arrange this contract of Salmons contract. Maybe cheaper.

Dammit I wake up to this in the morning...If I find out this ****er agreed than backed out I'll freak out. It better be a bigger deal but knowing Colangelo it probably is.

iverson?

RapsFan 07-21-2006 10:47 AM

We can deal any guy we acquire anytime. If we sign someone, they have to wait until a certain date/# of days etc.

Should be interesting to see what happens. Salmons won't be going to Phoenix for sure, so why would Salmons be the guy who balks? TO is an up tempo system that he could excel in.

Dr.Funk 07-21-2006 11:00 AM

I get the feeling that Philly is the team that may be balking at this not Salmons.

RapsFan 07-21-2006 11:05 AM

I wonder why. They were going to lose him for nothing and they got some cap relief and 2 picks didn't they? It's amazing how many verbal deals actually go down though from july 1st to July 12th (when the pen can hit paper). You would think that there would be tons of verbal deals go south but overall, the NBA agents/players/GMs seem pretty honest. Once they agree verbally to a deal, it's almost 99% to happen.
