The AP reports: Muscling inside at will and blasting to the rim almost every time he touched the ball, LeBron James scored a season-high 41 points—15 on free throws—with ease and Zydrunas Ilgauskas added 15 points and 10 rebounds, leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 107-93 win over the Bulls on Wednesday night… James added nine rebounds and six assists in 36 minutes… Ilgauskas made his sixth career 3-pointer, Ben Wallace had 14 rebounds without scoring and Delonte West had 16 points for the Cavs, who didn’t put it away until the final minutes… Ben Gordon scored a season-high 31 and rookie Derrick Rose 20 for the Bulls, who dropped to 0-3 on the road. Luol Deng had 18 points after scoring just one on Monday in a loss Orlando.

Nov 3: Magic 96, Bulls 93
The AP reports: Dwight Howard had 22 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Magic, but he was a non-factor in the fourth quarter with only two points and one rebound. Instead, the Magic went to a two-man game with point guard Jameer Nelson and forward Hedo Turkoglu. Nelson and Turkoglu each had four of the Magic’s 19 turnovers, four coming in the final quarter… Rashard Lewis finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Drew Gooden led Chicago with 21 points. Nocioni added 20 and Gordon 17… Magic backup Keith Bogans, who’s had 13 points off the bench after play sparingly in the preseason, continued to take minutes away from J.J. Redick at the shooting guard.
Nov 1: Bulls 96, Grizzlies 86
The AP reports: While Derrick Rose hopes to show more fire someday, the Chicago Bulls will take the sort of cool contribution he made on Saturday. The rookie who led Memphis to the NCAA final last year buried that city’s NBA team, scoring 26 points in his best game to lead the Chicago Bulls to a 96-86 victory over the Grizzlies. Kirk Hinrich added 18 points, but the night belonged to Rose, the No. 1 draft pick and Chicago native… Hinrich was 5-of-7 on 3-pointers. Drew Gooden grabbed 20 rebounds, and Chicago pulled this one out after losing by 16 at defending champion Boston the previous night thanks in part to a 51-43 edge on the boards… Rudy Gay scored 20 after pouring in 29 and hitting the winning 18-footer against Orlando on Friday. Warrick added 18 points and seven rebounds, while Mayo, the No. 3 pick, scored 16.
Oct 31: Celtics 96, Bulls 80
The AP reports: Kevin Garnett played much better in the 1,000th game of his career than in his first of this season. Boston’s intense leader had 18 points and 10 rebounds three days after a mediocre season opener and became the youngest player in NBA history to play in 1,000 regular-season games when the Celtics beat the Chicago Bulls 96-80 Friday night… Rookie point guard Derrick Rose, the top pick in the NBA draft, led the Bulls with 18 points and made six of their 25 field goals. He also learned a lesson from the champs… Tyrus Thomas, on 2-for-17 shooting, and Ben Gordon, who went 3-for-10, scored 11 each. Pierce, Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo scored 14 each for Boston.
Bulls name captains
The Arlington Heights Daily Herald (Mike McGraw) reports: The Bulls named Kirk Hinrich, Luol Deng and Drew Gooden as team captains. Coach Vinny Del Negro said captain selection was a mutual decision after meeting with the players individually Monday. “I felt that way and most of the team did, so that was an easy decision,” Del Negro said. “I do take it very seriously. I think it’s important, especially with a young team like ours, that our captains show leadership. Not only during games, but in preparation and practice and things.”
Oct 28: Bulls 108, Bucks 95
The AP reports: Luol Deng and Ben Gordon provided enough big shots to lead the Chicago Bulls to a 108-95 victory over former coach Scott Skiles and the Milwaukee Bucks in the season-opener Tuesday. Deng scored 21 points and Gordon added 18 to offset Michael Redd’s 30… Derrick Rose, the No. 1 draft pick out of Memphis and a Chicago native, wowed fans with his quickness and strength but mixed in enough mistakes to remind them he is a work in progress. He finished with 11 points, nine assists and four turnovers… Kirk Hinrich scored 15 points in a reserve role, while Tyrus Thomas added 15 points and 10 rebounds… Bucks C Andrew Bogut, bothered lately by a sprained left ankle, had nine points and seven rebounds.
Derrick Rose ready for opener
The Arlington Heights Daily Herald (Mike McGraw) reports: Rookie guard Derrick Rose refused to admit feeling nervous about his official NBA debut. “I can’t wait, but I don’t think I’ll be nervous,” he said. “My first pro game was the preseason. I (treated it like) it was a real game. So I’m just going to continue to play hard and act like it’s not the first game and try to be aggressive.” Rose rented a suite for tonight’s game to accommodate his friends and family. Also, he admitted it was his idea to be announced as “from Chicago” during pregame introductions instead of from his college, Memphis. “I’ve been here my whole life,” he said. “I’ve only been in Memphis one year. I think that the fans in Memphis will understand.”

Richard Jefferson led Milwaukee with 21 points.
