Report: Suns Sign Piatkowski for Two Years

"Tim Thomas' rapid dash for cash to the Clippers may have surprised Suns fans. Phoenix's first free-agent addition of the summer should not," writes Paul Coro of THE ARIZONA REPUBLIC. "The Suns snagged a shooter. Eric Piatkowski, a 6-foot-7 small forward, will spend his 13th and 14th NBA seasons in Phoenix after agreeing to a two-year, $2.4 million deal. Both years are guaranteed and at the minimum for a player of his experience. He can sign July 12."

TT is gone.
Thompson is gone.
Nikolos is gone.
Grant is gone.

That is AT LEAST four roster spot that the Suns must fill. You can fill that spots with players. Good players cost money. The Suns are not willing to spend money :hammerhead: .

I have a good feeling a about Piatkowski. If he can put up two threes a game and be mentor to Leandro he should be good for the franchise.

He will never replace Tim Thomas, but he will work well within the Suns system hitting the 3. He'll do well off the bench

This all started on draft night....:banghead:

Pike

Good cheap signing by Suns. He gives them a big shooting guard that
was lacking. This guy who has a career 40% 3 Pt average is a
great fit in the Suns system plus he can rebound and run.
His defense is mediocre on so he didnt fit with the Rockets and Bulls.
He was a solid role player for the Clippers for 7 years.

why didnt we just draft Williams:banghead:
Top 10 talent falls to 21:banghead:
we need depth at pg:banghead:
why not draft Williams:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

2.3mill for two years... thats close to vets minimum if i recall right. They still have the MLE. Piatkowski is not here to replace Thomas.

wally_world 07-04-2006 05:11 AM

woah... another shooter... now they must really get rid of House... everyone would be asking for shots...

BlackVVaves 07-04-2006 03:30 PM

House opted out I beleive.

Its not that bad of a signing. Amare and Diaw would have eaten up TT's minutes anyway.

Just get Pargo and a center.

Zombles 07-04-2006 11:37 PM

Horrible signing, Piatkowski is a shell of his former self, which was never that good in the first place, and the money would have been better spent on Marcus friggin' Williams.

winci 07-04-2006 11:55 PM

piatkowski might help us, he is a big guard that can make the 3, but he is not exactly what we need as a back up 2 guard.

the suns need to sign a pg hopefuly it'll be J. Pargo:roll: , a C is also a big need, F. elson or L.wright would be nice.

IMO phoenix should give Romain Sato a chance, the guy can hit the 3, real good defensive player, can score and rebound (25 ppg and 7 rebs in the italian league).

sounds good enough to play in PHX and backup Bell.
