I have no idea, but I always heard that it is very common in college to be more interesting for the scouts, and then no choice but keep lying.
6'7 of Rip Hamilton has always seemed suspect.

Dwight was measured when he was what, 18? Bosh 19. It's not uncommon for NBA players to grow an inch or two, especially at that age.

Dwight is still shorter than Bill Russell who measured 6-9 and 5/8ths w/o shoes back in 1955 and now in encounters with Dwight he's 70 years old and likely lost a bit of height so if Dwight did grow (which is purely speculative) I can't see it being plausible that he exceeded 6-9.5 w/o shoes. For a center he's medium/short in height - not as short as some centers of the past but def not near a 7 footer, long armed, and wide bodied with incredible athleticism - and high body mass. He doesn't need to be tall to do his job. In fact, a lot of successfull NBA centers were about his height (Hakeem, Willis Reed) or shorter (Ben Wallace, Wes Unseld)

Griffin. Stood next to him in OKC airport. More than one person said we're the same height; one said I'm taller.
I'm somewhere between 6'7" - 6'8" .

Re: Biggest Height cheats currently in NBA
The only thing that bothers me about this is in 2K, it makes former players look like midgets. Damn Jerry West is 6'2 in the game and I thought he'd be closer to 6'4 based on youtube highlights.
2K isn't even consistent too. I do recall Bill Russell being listed as 6'9 or 6'10 in the game (obviously adjusted)

Wade isn't 6'4 and Kobe isn't 6'6, more like 6'2 and 6'4

www.draftexpress.com/measurements has Wade in the system, and he was no less than 6-3.75" w/o shoes. And Kobe was interviewed a few years ago in the NY Times and said his wife measured him at 6-4.75". Both of these numbers fit accordingly with what one would guess looking at them in comparison to other players who's real measurements have been recorded (such as MJ, 6-4.88" - who looks about identical to Kobe in height)
