Everyone's finishing this game man.
I'm 40 hours in and only 23%.
What are your thoughts? No spoilers.

It's hard to say anything without spoilers. I just can't believe that ending. I don't know what to think. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.
Mechanically, it's the best game I've ever played. I actually enjoyed the narrative up until chapter 46, which is when things get VERY weird. I'm not sure if I like it yet.
The biggest bummer is the cut content. It leaves a plot point completely unresolved. I wasn't overly interested in that particular sub plot, but it is pretty important and should have been in the game.
This is the game that will divide the fanbase...even more so than MGS 2.

God dammit, not only was mission 51 cut, and ENTIRE ****ING CHAPTER was cut (it was titled "Peace"). Release that shit as DLC. I will pay $60 for it. Seriously. I'll suck Kojima's dick

it's funny how people keep sucking Kojima's dick (the game has about 5 point higher score on MC that it should have just from the hero worship) when he is the main reason a shit ton of content got cut because he couldn't handle the project financially

I tried getting into it last night, damn, it just got really boring. All those years, so many HOLES in the game. Sorry, Kojima :\

My buddy finished this game; said it was very good, GOTY candidate.
But he easily enjoyed Witcher 3 better.
Said the ending pretty much ruined the entire game to him.

I love The Witcher 3, but MGS V is better imo. Witcher has a better written story and better side content, but MGS V has FAR superior gameplay. It's the greatest stealth game of all time. It also performs much, much better. It runs at a locked 60 fps, while Witcher 3 struggles to stay at 30 fps, and dips into the mid to low 20's in certain scenarios. That makes a difference to me. MGS has better production values in general (less glitches, better cutscenes, cinematography, etc).
I also prefer the stealth genre over fantasy RPG.
Not that the Witcher 3 isn't a great ****ing game. It will easily finish as my #2 game of the year.

So I was gonna buy this last week but I made the mistake of downloading Crusader Kings 2.
Good bye life. Maybe I'll play this next year.

Witcher is still the number 1 game this year, by a comfortable margin

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases September 1st
After finishing it, I'm not as disappointed as some. The gameplay is so fvcking amazing that even after beating the main story, I still feel a burning desire to play some more. It'll probably be the first game I 100% just because of how addicting it is to play.
As for the story, it was aight. Chapter 1 was really good, Chapter 2 was weak (not as bad when doing side ops instead of the repeated missions). As an MGS game, I'm a little frustrated with the amount of plot holes and cut content, but when stood up against your average game, it's one of the most fun gaming experiences I've had.
It's just too bad that a whole chapter and boss fight/ending didn't even make the game. Still, for me, it's GOTY.
