Default Is there comfort in panic mode?

Are we hardwired to find comfort in fear?

Why is it when positive news is shared people want to suppress it with even more bad news. There have been some positive trends with this disease yet the moment you share it incites negative reaction and a pile on of negative cases.

This is the reason why the government won't really tell us what's going on in Area-51

what's the good news? a vaccine that's 18+ months away isn't getting me hard. neither are vanishing cases on the other side of the world.

No but we're hard wired to pay more attention to fear. Fear gets our attention.
The problem is if you post something negative the just-a-flu bro's speak out. If you post something positive the doomsayers speak out.

    Would it matter?
You're hardwired to negate it anyways.

It’s not comfort. It’s excitement. Bad things happening can be exciting. Some people like to be excited so they purposefully gravitate to over estimating/overreacting.

remember after 9/11 how Murica came together to shit on sand people. Kids these days got 3 weeks off school for possible flu and diarrhea risk. we watched Knicks fans jump out of Twin Towers on live air. no days off, 80 miles, 12" snow, up hill both ways

I can't stop laughing every time I go to the store and I see idiots buying the most ridiculous stuff in the name of panic buying.

a lot of the stuff going on right now is very reminiscient of 9/11 -

"THE TERROR ALERT HAS BEEN RAISED FROM DARK RED TO DARKER RED! SHELTER IN PLACE OR SOMEONE MIGHT DIE! Now to win this war were all gonna have to give up a few constitutional rights and make some serious personal and financial sacrifices, but its the only way to keep everyone safe... its ok you can trust us were Donald Trumps government"

It boggles my mind that so many of the libtards who have spent the last 4 years melting down about how Donald Trump is an existential threat to democracy or something are now calling on him to use the military to lock people in their houses... all because some immune compromised senior citizens died from a newly identified strain of the common cold (people who likely would have died from ANY of the 30 known strains of corona virus).

I've been thinking about a Men in Black quote from Tommy Lee Jones lately. "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals."

Yet when there is even a shred of hope they have an obsessive need to snuff it out and continue living in fear.
