I don't like either side but I get the feeling that McCarthy is trying to govern while Gaetz Boebert MTG etc. don't mind getting nothing done they just want attention. They can't be so stupid that they don't realize with Democrat president and senate majority anything that passes has to be a compromise. They have ended up getting less of what they claim to want in the budget that will pass than they would have if they had accepted one of the proposals Mccarthy put forth that the democrats hated... of course those proposals would never get through the senate but whatever. I guess Lloyd Austin won't be settling for a dollar after all. Shocking.

So Scalise win the nomination and celebrated the victory by dropping out of the race. No idea who is next. It's been 10 days. I don't believe that any of these people really care about Israel, Ukraine, etc but we can't do much about these situations without approved funding which can't happen without a House.

I am expecting all of this nothing to continue.

Are you also happy that we currently don't have a functioning House? I'm not sure what if any decisions the government can make right now that require more authority than an executive decision. This is the fault of the Republican dysfunction but it's about a lot more than that. There appear to be some people in Congress that maybe even want to be in the minority so that they they can just complain without the responsibility to pass laws, which requires the ability to compromise.

I fully expect they will get their wish next year.

The very conservative minority of the house wants everything they are asking for from the speaker or a shutdown for indefinite amount of time. They will not negotiate on anything. They want all-or-nothing so I don't think a new speaker is getting in unless if they guarantee everything or nothing to a tiny conservative minority of deucebags in the house.
