SGA is pretty much penny hardaway if you plucked him out of 1995/96 and dropped him off today. They are pretty much identical

I was actually just telling someone that SGA is the current player who is closest to Jordan.

But if you reverse it and say who is he closest to in the 80s and 90s, Penny Hardaway is a good call.

Penny is a way better passer. Man what a player, such a shame that we did not get to see him play a proper prime because of injuries.

Not an 90s guy but SGA reminds me most of maybe like a less athletic/explosive Dwayne Wade.

    Allen Iverson for sure.

People forget that AI was primarily a midrange jump shooter off the dribble.

he's shooting 55% from the field not 35%. Also a large guard not tiny.

AI went from 39% to 46% when they changed the rules in 2005(?).

The playstyle is the same, use dribbles and quickness to go for a pullup midrange jumper.

If you took shaq out the paint and put penny in a 5 out offense that’s shai. Shai just tries to draw fouls more than penny because he lacks his speed. If he had penny’s speed he wouldn’t rely on his foul drawling iq cause he would’ve never needed to overcome his lack of speed. He can jump just as high as penny

Nobody before Jamal Crawford. That would be the gatekeeper. SGA is too herky jerky to be compared to anyone in the 90s. Penny and Grant Hill would be the the closest but SGA change of direction and control of speed is different
