Judge denies Trump's motion to have Georgia election case dismissed
This pertains to not just ordering the Georgia secretary to find the exact number of votes necessary for him to win the state but also the fact that Trump later had fake electors ready to go in a conspiracy to win the state. They were not even electors - they were Trump's people using forged documents and impersonating officials. Trump tried to argue that he was protected by the First Amendment in his actions.
Not so fast, sparky.
Trump and others had argued, in part, that the Fulton County indictment violated their First Amendment right to challenge the 2020 presidential election results.
In his order denying the motion, Judge Scott McAfee wrote that "Even core political speech addressing matters of public concern is not impenetrable from prosecution if allegedly used to further criminal activity."
The judge, in his ruling, said that the indictment alleges more than just political statements.
"The State has alleged more than mere expressions of a political nature," the judge wrote. "Rather, the indictment charges the Defendants with knowingly and willfully making false statements to public officers and knowingly and willfully filing documents containing false statements and misrepresentations within the jurisdiction of state departments and agencies."
McAfee also wrote that he was unable to find "any authority that the speech and conduct alleged is protected political speech."
The protection afforded specifically by the Petition Clause of the First Amendment -- which allows the ability to communicate with government officials -- "does not extend to allegedly fraudulent petitions," McAfee wrote.

The request to drop the documents case was also denied today in Florida, just hours later.
U.S. District Judge Aileen M. Cannon on Thursday rejected Donald Trump’s bid to have his charges of mishandling classified documents dismissed on the grounds that a federal records law protected him from prosecution.
The judge also defended her handling of the issue, which had surprised legal experts and rankled prosecutors.
Trump’s defense team argued that the Presidential Records Act (PRA) took priority over the Espionage Act when it came to highly classified documents that went to his private residence in Florida after his presidency. On Thursday, Cannon shot down that argument, saying the PRA “does not provide a pre-trial basis to dismiss” either the mishandling charges or the related obstruction charges against Trump.
By defusing a looming confrontation with prosecutors, Cannon’s ruling may clear a path for her to decide a host of other unresolved pretrial issues, including the most basic question of when the trial will be held. The dispute over the possible relevance of the PRA to this case had led some legal experts to worry that there was little chance the case would go to trial this year.
Cannon’s decision comes three weeks after she held a hearing on Trump’s PRA motion, and two days after special counsel Jack Smith blasted the rationale behind the judge’s demand for prospective jury instructions that seemed to largely adopt Trump’s interpretation of the act.

Both cases are going to trial. I believe there's the 3rd case in New York that begins trial on the 15th. Georgia, Florida, and New York states.

Trump is now suing the judge to stop the case
I have never heard of that before. Suing the judge overseeing your case because he wouldn't toss out your case based on being charged for multiple felonies?? Certainly won't get anywhere. It's sounds like a desperation move.
