I get superstar calls
Re: H.S student suspended 3 days for using term 'illegal alien'
There’s way too much dei in public schools now, especially if you live in a blue state. It’s affecting education. I don’t mind kids being able to express themselves, even politically as school should be a safe space for kids to develop their ideas; but if it’s getting in the way of English, math etc it’s a problem. Admittedly, I can only be bothered to care so much. My girls will be going to chartered and private schools, so public education suffering only makes it easier for them to compete in the workforce.

The Truth Is Out There
Re: H.S student suspended 3 days for using term 'illegal alien'
I think there is a bigger problem these days with teachers pushing their own views on students and silencing those that disagree with them on social and political issues because of the sheer amount of K-12 teachers these days with postgraduate degrees. Most of these postgraduates obviously wanted to be doing something else besides teaching kids, so some probably feel the need to tell themselves they are now where they are to not only teach but to influence children on everything so as not to feel like somewhat of a failure

Re: H.S student suspended 3 days for using term 'illegal alien'
i kind of agree with off the court on this one
“Like space aliens or illegal aliens without green cards?”
Kid earned a detention or an in school suspension. Not a new standard. Would have been the same 40 years ago.
a young man in class took offense to Christian’s question and reportedly threatened to fight him, prompting the teacher to call in the assistant principal. Ultimately, Christian’s words were deemed by administrative staff to be offensive and disrespectful to classmates who are Hispanic.
Here is the problem I have... kid trying to fight should have been punished also for being disruptive. You cant fly off the handle because you do not like something another student said in the classroom. The double tech would have been the right call.
