You could make the argument Stephenson is better and younger.
He's also an arrogant headcase.

Re: Lance Stephenson to Hornets
Great deal for the Hornets. MJ will mentor this young crazy man and probably even bust his ass a little one on one. I have no doubt MJ could still beat a lot of these young punks one on one.
MJ, the owner, is a huge success.

Two pages in, and I've seen the comment that Lance was offered "more money" from the Pacers.
27 / 3 = 9m a year.
44 / 5 = 8.8m a year
8.8 < 9
Not to mention, Lance wanted a shorter contract, likely so he could prove his "haters" wrong, and get a larger one. Dude is like 23. He plays until 26 on this deal. Now he's in his prime and, theoretically anyway, he's shown that he's not a headcase. Max contract, easy. A FA again at 31... still young enough to get a shorter max, or a longer near max.
Or!!!
FA at 28 on the same team. One max deal brings him to 33. Now what?

Thing is Pacers couldve bumped their offer up, or at least have a good negotiation with Lance. It's almost like Lance didnt wanna play for Indy.

Not to mention the Pacers offer started low and then ramped up, so Lance actually makes more over the term of the Lance's contract with the Hornets:
Tim Donahue @TimDonahue8p9s
Don't confuse starting salaries with average salaries. Pace or average offer is $8.8 million but starting is $7.6 million.
Tim Donahue @TimDonahue8p9s
For context, the Pacers' 5/$44 offer would pay $7.7mm in yr1, $8.2mm yr2 for total of $15.9mm.
Tim Donahue @TimDonahue8p9s
CHA offer will pay Lance about $3mm more over next three years than Pacer offer, but has $26mm less in total guaranteed dollars.

I was just about to make a thread on how disappointed I was with the way FA was going for the Hornets when this news broke. It's gonna be a fun season.

I don't blame him. He was not offered much freedom on that team. And I don't mean verbally, as I obviously don't have any inside info, but rather in play style. I think Lance should be more like the second option, whereas on Indy he was the third option on a good day, and the third ball-handler, as well.
I see him averaging something like 18/8/6 this year.. Iguodala numbers. But again, I'm one of his biggest fans.

Re: Lance Stephenson to Hornets
good signing for the hornets ... good option for lance as well in 2 years time he might get the money he asked for .. if he can bring this hornets team to the ECF ... he will get paid without a doubt.
