That's pretty stupid. I can think of in my circle at least 4/5 people who can't drink, not one because of bad decisions, but because of the fact they can't absorb the alcohol well, they get flushed, feel sick. One person has an ulcer. My wife is pretty much moving toward the can't drink pile as she gets older to an an ulceric condition. Terrible judgment on her part to have that genetic issue.

Generally I don't really care. There is the implication there: this person might have a history with some kind of substance abuse. But I don't really care if they do.

However, in bars and clubs you are definitely supposed to be drinking. If you are at a club or a bar and you aren't there on a special occasion, and you aren't the designated driver? That always creeps me out.

Yeah, setting is important. A sober dude at the bar gives off the vibe of trying to take advantage of drunk girls. But opting for water at a social gathering is no biggie.

lol yep if you're male that is strange...probably means he is planning to kidnap, date-rape

I've come across lots of women at clubs that don't drink though, they just like to dance.

That is very rare, and unlikely true that you would have 5 people in your circle of friends with alcohol allergies.

You guys can nit pick exceedingly rare allergies or genetic conditions all you want, but they're incredibly rare and don't really apply to the conversation at hand or my point.

    He's talking about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcohol_flush_reaction

Very much not rare among people from a certain part of the world.

I would say the majority of programmers in the game industry don't drink, because they just don't like to. No allergy, no past,...just don't like alcohol. crazy huh?

The artists are another story lol

He is around a lot of Asians. Many don't metabolize alcohol correctly, especially those damn Koreans.

Good, accurate post probably the best on in this topic

You're an ignorant fool if you believe that's an asinine analogy.

Drugs are inanimate objects, there is no such thing as an "uncontrollable drug". There are alcoholics to whom alcohol is as uncontrollable is as heroin to a heroin addict.

I've known people who have tried heroin once or twice, and never touched it after. Not to mention you completely sidestepped primetime's point - it doesn't matter specifically it's heroin.

"A person who refuses oxycontin/a blunt/xanax/molly/cocaine/skydiving/cigarettes is someone who doesn't trust themselves so I surely wont".

talk about a poor judge of character.

Lol @ Deuces. It is possible that some people just don't care for alcohol. What a stupid thing to judge someone over.

I'll pay the person who do the dirty work their hard earned money.

keep your trust, and I'll take the responsibilities and results.
because, what is results and responsibilities you can't trust?

I don't know if trusting someone with expensive taste is any better if that is the reason/motive behind why they drink.

not that I figured out why expensive liquor doesn't give you a hangover yet. just don't tell your friends anything you drink that doesn't give you a hangover is expensive liquor.

so drinks out is a big part of business.. that's how you hash out shit and everyone let's their guard down, but there is a fine line of getting completely hammered and making an ass out of yourself or being "one of the guys" having a few drinks, that being said you don't have to drink at all no one cares, but you're probably not going to get some of the information you need out of people without participating in the 'party' aspect. i've met quite a few people that do not drink for religious reasons etc, or maybe they had a previous problem.. i don't think they were deemed untrustworthy.
