Kobe may even have a legit shot to pass KAJ, if he stays healthy and keeps gunning like he's doing so far this season. However, it may be a pretty hollow honor if the Lakers can't even make the playoffs in these next seasons.
Kobe still has some left in the tank. 25/4/3 on 40/41/93 shooting with a 25 PER in the first two games, he can still put up numbers and hit jump shots at a decent rate, low fg% comes from horrible team offense (zero spacing) and lack of touches inside, most of his shots have been mid-range jumpshots, he'll shoot 45% at best for the season if they keep playing this way....
Maybe the Lakers should start their rebuilding process now and send Kobe to NY for Amare. The trade makes so much sense because Kobe could be on a potential Playoff team with Melo, who knows more about the triangle than Kobe(as a player)? He would be perfect to run the offense in NY and they got shooters to space the floor. It's sad to see Kobe be just a player people watch the Lakers for, without winning shit. He deserves more than that and Laker fans want to be back in the Playoffs as fast as possible. Getting a top 5 pick would be the best scenario for us. Being a Laker for life is nice but if he wants to add anything to his Playoff resume, he's better off in New York for his final 2 years.

I'd like to see Kobe try to make some noise in the playoffs again too. It's very unlikely he'll be traded though; we have to be realistic. And these first two games are not promising for the Lakers, but there's still plenty of time to turn it around. Unfortunately, I just don't know where else they will get points except from Kobe, and he'll likely do it on low efficiency.
Not a Lakers fan at all, but I don't want to see an all time great go down without a fight.

Geez, has basketball filled with so many haters that they can't appreciate an amazing feat? Moving up to No. 3 on the All time NBA scoring is quite an accomplishment. Only two players in history will have scored more points, so thinking that it is not a big accomplishment is just plain silly.
We should appreciate an All time basketball legend as he winds down his career. Love him or hate him, you can't deny he's done a lot.

Very good NBA starter
Re: Countdown: Kobe Bryant passes Michael Jordan in Points
I don't even have to look and I can bet that he's already number one in field goal attempts.

team accomplishment....
overrated because too many factors like coaching, teammates / luck, athletic trainers...etc..etc...
Scoring is a pure sign of ones greatness and skillset....alltime scorer plus team accomplishments.... Kobe = top 3 alltime easily.
He's allready the GOAT Laker according to other Laker Greats.

Still don't get this lame argument. Everybody already knows that Kobe isn't as great an individual player as Jordan. However, he WILL end up with more points that him just because he kept going at it. So a lesser player took longer to score more points...he still ends up with more points. He's not better than Jordan, but on this particular list, he has a higher accomplishment than Jordan. No one's counting minutes played or shots missed, just points. And Kobe's going to end his career with more than Jordan.
In short:
Jordan > Kobe as a player
Kobe > Jordan on the all time scoring list
I don't see how anyone who isn't a retard is using this as "proof" that Kobe is better than Jordan.

Like you man...you take time to retort to trolls in clear and precise fashion...
Besides it's not like Kobe only scored 10 points a game for 50 years...
Kobe has been dropping 25 - 30 pts a game for well over a decade now!!!
Name another player that has done that...on top of winning 5 Titles.....oh that's right....only MJ
