I had a few black friends growing up. None of them could swim even a little bit. Byron is black though, so his comments mean nothing. If he was white, CNN would already be blowing this thing up.

Actually you CAN be racist against your own people...regardless a comment like this is highly inappropriate in a work enenvironment.

that's not racism
it's just a stereotype
people nowadays can't tell the difference, media's fault I guess
edit: you can indeed be racist towards your own race. Plenty of examples through history too.

LAPD tried to make it mandatory officers know how to swim (because of the water channels).
Black officers threw a fit.

I always knew Byron was an Uncle Tom. The mustache is a dead giveaway.

I can't swim at all..However, almost everyone else I know can...I never had swimming lessons and stuff like that, never really went to pools like that growing up and when I got a certain age, I figured it was too late so **** it. But since I can't swim, I don't like large bodies of water, I don't go around lakes, rivers, I don't go on cruises or anything like that because I'm always worried about not being able to swim if it sinks or something....And I don't trust lifeboats and lifesavers, etc.....
