i don't think he would thrive in the nba. he was a scoring machine with limitless range, but he would be a defensive liability and have some problems with the speed of the game. in the best scenario, he'd be like peja. i think he'd be a shooting specialist like, say, kyle korver.
leandro barbosa would definately challenge him for this spot if basketball was more popular in brazil nowadays. an international achievement (like oscar's outstanding 87' panam games) wouldn't hurt, either.

Respect to Dino Meneghin.
Greece: Nikos Galis (incredible scorer and passer, though only 6-0 tall, he was taking it to the hoop rather than shoot 3's).
Puerto Rico: Jose Ortiz (played for the Jazz in a few games).
Israel: Miki Bercovic or Doron Jamchi (spelling?).
Philippines: Ramon Fernandez
USSR: Sabonis, followed by Sergei Belov, the "Russian Jerry West".
Hmmm, Wiae Hur was a legend.
meh, ramon fernandez won't be of any use on international matches. i'd say for the philippines: caloy loyzaga. dude from the 1950s olympic team (i think they got a bronze or 4th), olympics mythical five member.

Not airballing my layups anymore
hahahahaahahah tait is better than west???? are u serious?????? u cannot be serious? the best player from NZ is kirk penney and that is fact, even though he never properly made the NBA like marks, he is still NZ's finest, Tait isnt even the starting PG for the national team, how can he be better than the starting point guard for the celtics?
-
I agree Taits going to be key for NZ in the future. It would be good if Penney got a NBA contract, I can't see Marks gettin too much playin time. How bout Pero Cameron for one of NZs greats? Maybe not so much these days but a few years back at the world champs he was the only non nba player named in the tournament first team.

It is not a fact actually. I rate Sean Marks higher then penney, and possible phil jones is close to penney. Tait may have gotten alot of pt for NZ but he had a shattered wrist, so saying he is not the starting point guard it stupid becuase he hasn't played in the latest series.
I do agree though that west is alot better then Tait.

Marks is just big, he has no skills, just a banger to fill up the last few spots on the roster. Every team needs a few. He was like the 6th best NZ player at the Olympics.

For a big player he actually does have skills. Im not sure how much you've seen him play. At the olympics he didn't play too much because hes was being a ***** trying to protect himself for the NBA. He was deffinately one of our best players, but now that hes pulled out of international ball im not too sure.

Internationally he led Seton Hall to the NCAA Final.
Internationally he played 280 games for Australia.
Internationally he captained the Boomers from 1994-2000.
Internationally named player of the year 1990, 1994-96 and 1998.
Internationally named in FIBA's 50 greatest players.
Internationally is the top all time scorer in Olympic history.
I could go on but you don't know ****!
By the way if you gauge international ball by the NBA, he does have an NBA Championship ring!

When it happened, most of the clowns on the board were saying 'ahahahah did you see that david becham lookalike (boucher) get pushed over by Yao, that aggression will be good for his NBA game' rather then wow did you see Yao just get dunked on by the NZ guy?
