Proves idiots wrong
So, Durant played with Westbrook, Harden, Reggie Jackson to lose in the Finals?
Westbrook and Harden are now even better MVP candidates than Durant, and it looks like Reggie Jackson will be an all star this season. Ibaka was a defensive player of the year as well. Chances that Durant could have a better set of teammates than that? I think none.

So, Kevin Durant was great enough to outshoot this supposedly stacked team by 12% in the 2012 NBA Finals?
I wonder how they managed to carry Kevin Durant to almost winning the championship that year, considering three of the losses were closely contested wherein better shooting efficience was direfully needed...

The 2012 Thunder had a lot of raw talent but they were inexperienced and poorly coached. If anything they overachieved. The Heat team they ran into in the finals was just much better. The only thing that slowed them down in the playoffs that year was Bosh's injury. The big 3 were all playing at a high level and all five starters averaged double figures in the finals. I also think Lebron and Wade were at their best as a tandem in 2012. Great chemistry on both ends.

and that bench.
His second option shooting 43% didn't really help much either.
2012 thunder = most overrated team of all time
look at their age.
the core is 23 and 22. way too young.

lol
the heat were an equal level team, fluky three point shooting from role players and the refs are the only reason they won that series so decisively.

exactly.
people like to look at westbrook/harden/ibaka today and say "wow, that team was stacked.... how could they not win??!!"
but they're just being purposely oblivious.
Durant was the only one mature enough as a player to be an elite performer in the nba finals at the time.
thunder were completely over-matched by a more talented, more experienced, and better coached team. period.

Durant lost in Finals with Westbrook, Harden and Jackson (1 all-star, 1 bench player, 1 non-rotation player), but Lebron lost with Wade, Bosh and Allen (2 all stars, 1 bench player).
And let's be serious - Ray Allen was established and getting a lot of playing time (he sacrificed his starting spot to play with Wade), while Reggie Jackson wasn't a rotation player.
Also, Lebron lost in 2011 with Wade averaging 26 ppg in playoffs, including 27 ppg in Finals.. Bosh averaged 19 ppg.. No one has ever lost with more help.

In terms of raw talent? Yeah, probably. However, the Heat had a significant edge in experience and intelligence, and that's not even getting into the incompetence of Brooks. You acknowledged that OKC's core was too young and it showed in the finals. I'm not sure how you can say that OKC was too young and then turn around and say they were an equal level team to the Heat. Again, if you are talking strictly in terms of talent it's close, but the Heat were clearly a better team.
