Stern did a great job of marketing the NBA in the 80's compared to where it was. He handled the first Jordan "retirement" well especially if it was a gambling scandal and kept in-house. Defensive teams and big man friendly rules hurt the product in the 2000's. The Suns got screwed in 2007, Kings in 2002, and Pacers in 2004-05. For the integrity of the sport he should have just let the ball play where it lies, but that's just mho.

In that 10 year period, 2000-2010, stern ruines any legacy he had. Shady behavior and more than likely dealings with the mob. Why else would he screw the Kings, Suns and Pacers?

Can you think of any period where mutiple teams in the same decacde got screwed massively? Stern had deals with the mob.
