That's not the only problem. They didn't send out their best players.
Three roster spots are taken up by the likes of Javel McGee, Harvey Grants son and Keldon Johnson.
Your only true center is Javel McGee (I shouldn't be using his name twice when describing Team USA but I am.)
Your other two bigs are the undersized Dray Green and Bam.
Your only true stars here are KD and Dame. Everyone else is 2nd and 3rd tier All-Stars.

Jrue holiday took the most shots on the team.
Reminds me of starbury and iverson taking the most shots in 2004. Middleton, Booker, and Jrue shot a combined 6-21. That's your NBA finalists right there boys.

All these excuses about the roster. Fact is, the teams just not the best.

Since Curry, but you could say since 2006 actually, because what is Curry if not the next Steve Nash.
The US problem is not the NBA, but AAU and travel teams.
There has been quite a lot written about this.
The US youth system is corrupted by scouts and agents, which want to make their clients look good, so they do these superteams and create mixtapes over learning fundamentals in teams, like in Europe.
In Europe, if you're good, you move up and play with adults at age 14-15. That puts the biggest talents in situations as being the lowest in the hierarchy with adults. That teaches you a lot.
In US, if you're good, they put you back one season, so you can play with younger kids and look even better, or they put you on select AAU superteams.
Without college to teach the team concept, US players just never learn it.

Probably in the early 2010's. Spurs and Warriors didnt rely on FTs, but players like Durant and quite a few others if you even breathe on them its a foul. Or they initiate contact and get rewarded for it. How does Evan Fournier shit on KD in Olympics?
There are a lot of players that get away with extremely biased reffing in the NBA though it would take a long time to type out whose legit from the field and whose not. Curry and Kawhi certainly dont rely on FTs so missing them and even Klay who also plays legit is huge. Kyrie too. They're missing some of their best ballers tbh.

Maybe we should also get some college players to go along with the pros. At least they would be eager to play.
