Not necessarily. But the film being akin to a roller coaster with the effects and action pieces can distract from a lack of narrative or character development.

That's fair.
Applying it broadly to marvel movies is unfair. Nobody discards Goodfellas as another gangster movie sensationalizing money, drugs and violence because of Scarface. That's not even being critical, that's just being lazy.
Guardians of the galaxy was layered with themes that are relevant to the day. Everyone meets tragedy in life. Underneath all of the superpowers and comic book stuff, the movie shines a light on human resiliency and the value of friendship.

Sure, but it only works to a certain degree.
The first Guardians might actually be my favorite Marvel movie because it seemed to have a little more heart than most of the others. But after 12 movies about human resiliency and friendship it gets a little stale for me.
Having the same theme over and over and over, it becomes clear that there isn't much need for meticulousness in the set up or anything truly different other than the specific circumstances each hero is in. It's all pretty on the nose and it doesn't interest me in any way.
Not that it isn't "art" because there's many levels that go into just creating these things. The cinematography is cool and there are scores of people excelling at their jobs. It's just not at all what I'm looking for in film at this point.

All great movies. Trainspotting & Collateral both have great soundtracks.
I showed my friend American Beauty years back and he was blown away from how good it was.

I am not dismissing the fatigue, and I think we're getting off track here. My fault because I will defend Guardians like ArbitraryWater does Ronaldo
My original point was that "your favorite comic book movie" fits the premise of this thread. I would never recommend watching the entire marvel movie library to anyone, but I would recommend watching at least one of the Marvel movies to everyone. A big part of the reason I watch the movies I do is being able to discuss them with other people. That's why I would include one movie from all of the blockbuster franchises like Star Wars and Star Trek in my own list.

Rambo first blood almost feels like it belongs to an entirely different series than the rest of the Rambo movies. When most people hear the name "Rambo" they probably think of a guy with huge muscles gunning down an endless army of enemy minions, but from what I recall Rambo doesnt actually kill a single person in this film, and he doesnt really start using a firearm until the final 1/3rd of the movie.
And yeah it does a great job of creating sympathy, not just for Rambo but also for the villains (the cops) who are mostly just guilty of misunderstanding what they are dealing with and not knowing when to swallow their pride.

Re: movies to watch before you die
Movies can expose you to new perspectives, cultures, and ideas. They can also help you to understand and appreciate the world around you and offer a way to relax and unwind after a long day.
But generally speaking, it is likely that spending time learning something worthwhile would be considered more valuable and much more of a priority than watching a list of movies before you die. Learning something worthwhile such as a new skill, knowledge or education can help you to achieve your personal and professional goals and have a positive impact on your life and the lives of those around you.
It's possible to find a balance between watching movies and spending time learning something worthwhile. Just be mindful of how much time you are spending watching movies, knowing that the less movies you watch, the more likely it will be for you to become a top G.
