Default Should the Wolves bench Gobert?

Not only do they not really need him for defense right now, his offensive ineptitude in high stakes games is hurting the team.

They looked so much better with Naz because he actually has to be guarded on every inch of the floor. They have 5 point spacing with him at the 5. With rudy they're giving up a power play to the opponent.

+/- for single game sample sizes is frankly a meaningless stat. Ant was -32, tied for worst on the team.

They dont need to bench him because theyre still gonna use all their bigs over the course of the game, but they can keep him on a short leash and if they go on runs without him they can just leave him out for however long.

I actually like Toody on a personal level and dont mind seeing him do well, but his clumsiness on offense definitely yields some pretty inconsistent results on that end. It also gives you a glimpse into the mind of a true psycho to know Xiao thinks Toods was always Utah’s most important offensive player, and apparently one of the best offensive players in the league.

It’s unfathomable lunacy and yet he sticks with it. Fascinating.

Have you seen his posting in the Jazz forum? Tens of thousands of posts literally talking to himself, making his takes on Toody seem sane compared to that level of true unfathomable lunacy

    Gobert with a 10.9 USG% and a BPM of -6.0
    Naz was at 19 % and -3.4

Naz with a higher GmSc as well, at 8.7 to Toody's 7.5

The wolves defense has already proved they can play elite without gobert. They looked way more dangerous in Game 2 with rudy out on offense. And Naz basically won them Game 1 when he went off in the 2nd half.

I knew for a fact that when Garza came in for the last 5 minutes he would somehow outperform Rudy and he did. Trolls will cry but it happened

No. If you watched the game you'd have seen that they were better with Rudy in. Consider that Aaron Gordon hit 3 threes when Gobert was on the court (when does he ever do that?) and Denver made some well-defended tough shots. Adjust for the variance of shooting luck and the Gobert minutes were more or less neutral.

The non-Rudy minutes were comparatively worse. Denver figured out some weak spots and exploited them. Note Nikola making extremely quick reads on the short roll and nailing passes to Gordon at the rim.
