No idea what to make of this trade. I'd caution against reductive analyses boiling everything down to three-point shooting and spacing. Randle has been a part of strong NYK offenses while playing alongside offensively limited rim-running centers and mediocre team three-point shooting.

    NYK 2022-23: 3rd ORtg; +3.0 rORtg [11th 3PM, 8th 3PA, 19th 3PT%, 10th 3PAr]
    NYK 2023-24: 7th ORtg; +2.9 rORtg [10th 3PM, 13th 3PA, 14th 3PT%, 11th 3PAr]
    NYK 2022-23: Randle + Robinson: +7.4; Randle + Hartenstein: +3.0
    NYK 2023-24: Randle + Hartenstein: +11.1
Will it work? Who knows. But it absolutely can; I see an outcome where Randle's superior on-ball creation provides Minnesota a much-needed offensive lift. That's assuming they're not looking to trade him.

Although Towns isn't a Thibadeau-style center New York has the defensive wings (Anunoby, Bridges) to help him out.

Randle is a playoff choker anyway, no big loss tbh. Donte is a much bigger loss, guy plays D, can hit the 3 and plays his ass off.

KAT is nothing but a soft cuck loser.. massive L for the Knicks wow

Yossi Gozlan: It’s worth noting that Rudy Gobert is currently extension-eligible. He has a $46.7 million player option for next season and could extend at a lower starting salary. That possibility, along with Karl Anthony-Towns’ contract off the books, would leave the Timberwolves in a much stronger position to re-sign Naz Reid next summer. – via x.com

    Nah, I duno.

There’s no way they didn’t run this by Brun tho.

I wouldn’t put it past the Knicks to not have run this by Brunson. They are a grossly incompetent organization.

    ALWAYS TAKE THE MONEY. idiot
Are you 12? Why are your replies so immature. Brunson didn’t take less to play just with his friends. He took less so the Knicks would have flexibility to make moves to be title contenders. Nowhere did he say do this without sacrificing my role player buds. His end goal is to win an nba title. Not play just with besties.

Randle is a ball stopper so the Knicks needed to move him. Whether you like it for Kat is fair. But Randle had to be gone. This move allows Brunson to continue being the main guy whereas had Randle been healthy? He would’ve fell back. Again could they have moved Randle for different pieces etc? Sure. I feel Kat is soft and hasn’t shown up when it counts. So I’m all for moving Randle I just don’t think I would’ve done it for KAT. But we will see how it plays out.

I was critical of Brunson turning down money. But you’re calling him an idiot given your replies in here would make one question your idiocy is hilarious. Simmer down bud.

Interesting trade. I see a bit more upside for the Knicks in it though. Kat is soft but Julius Randle is an even worse choker.

Donte is nice but it's hard to tell how much of a "flash in the pan" type player he is.

Disappointing to see divincenzo go but that's a decent price to pay for an All Star big man. I'm not a fan of KAT but with Mitchell Robinson out for now they needed some size.

I don't think Ant has the polish or IQ to play with someone like Randle

Not a knicks fan, but yeah it’d be wack after he bought in. I can see buying in like he did for respect and longevity, but it makes no sense for them to shit on him so early. Ainge is not their gm, right haha.

I also agree they were gonna trade randle anyway, but i share the skepticism about kat. He prol sells tickets, but ill be shocked if he’s contending. Add in he has an injury history and it’s like…

Like i said i think this is bad for both teams. Maybe there is some benefit money wise but we shall see how it works in basketball.

It’s the Knicks, taking less money to win? Insane.

You seem upset, calling names and making it personal. What’s wrong princess? Still upset the 76ers are a total shitshow?
