There is a theory going around that Musk did it so that he could gauge statistical reactions on Twitter. See how many are in favor and defend it vs how many are opposed. It's a decent theory.

Also vids of Musk's parents are going around, Elon's mother did in fact come from a Nazi family, and Elon grew up in a very racist setting. His family was in favor of apartheid in South Africa.

I mean the US was fascist for most of it's history (slavery, genocide of Native Americans, Jim Crow, etc.), it's only recently (relatively speaking) it moved into a more neoliberal model, but now it's backsliding because neoliberalism frequently leads to fascism (for two reasons: mainly because it alienates the left who stay home, but also because some people get sucked into fake right wing "populism" aka thinly disguised fascism because they're absolutely braindead and realize the system sucks but are easily duped into blaming it on minorities. Still, like this election shows, the bigger part of it is alienating the left, Trump couldn't win if the left had a good candidate).
