Why do you think all the euros are all in on dying for ukraine? they want to keep america as their proxy from any actual conflict and responsibility aka spending so they can spend it on themselves (and then act snoody to americans on why they are enable to give free shit to their citizens. )
arent you on food stamps? so you're being subsidized by americans.

Author is right that government spending should be cut, funny he doesn't mention DOGE which is doing exactly that. And you can do two things at once, both cutting expenses and getting better trade deals which lead to more exports, which creates more jobs and lead to more corporate profits, which lead to more taxes, which leads to a higher federal budget.

He's using numbers incorrectly though, the US budget deficit in 2024 was 1.8 trillion, not 1.1.

America the generous, simple-minded, gullible child led by the nose by those pesky Europeans. You have no idea how pathetic you come off with this nonsense, which has zero relevance to trade deficits.

Also, convenient how you aren't mentioning China. Maybe you've been subsidising the Communist Party as well and it too is taking advantage of you.

Not that you'll understand this, but the US trade deficit originated in the early 80s when the then Fed Chairman raised the interest rates to almost 20% in an effort to combat high inflation. It wrecked domestic manufacturing and ushered an era of imports and debt for the US.

Lol at the US playing the Victim mentality. As if it did not exploit every other nation in the world in one way or another.

He's using numbers incorrectly though, the US budget deficit in 2024 was 1.8 trillion, not 1.1.

Let’s look at the numbers. In 2024, the U.S. exported $4.8 trillion in goods and services, and imported $5.9 trillion of goods and services, leading to a current account deficit of $1.1 trillion. That $1.1 trillion deficit is the difference between America’s total spending in 2024 ($30.1 trillion) and America’s national income ($29.0 trillion). America spends more than it earns and borrows the difference from the rest of the world.
He's talking about TRADE deficit/ surplus. The 30.1/29.0 trillion figures obviously aren't GOVT spending and income as that would be insane, which the graph you linked obviously shows. No, those figures are based on total income of ALL americans in 2024. If you weren't able to comprehend something that simple then this article is completely out of your depth.

This is like a people having a conversation about CAD oil in 2025 and 2026 and you bringing up a graph on the price of pokemon cards.

Yeah read it again, the guy offers a solution:

To close the trade deficit, the U.S. should close the budget deficit.
As you yourself just pointed out, those numbers don't relate that way and even if you close the budget deficit through cuts you'll still have a trade deficit.
