It's his platform to do what he wants, but when he spews retarded shit we are also free to call him a retard. I mean, that's how it works. You have the freedom to say stupid things, and we have the freedom to call you stupid.

But that wasn't the case on Twitter before Elon purchased it. On Twitter you didn't have the freedom to say certain things. You weren't even allowed to post factual information regarding a political candidate running for president. Such was also case on Facebook, Instagram and Youtube in regard to Covid. Factual information was labelled "disinfo". And while all this was happening, you guys were twiddling your thumbs singing dixie. In some cases you were actively cheering it on.

So don't pretend like now you are some free speech warrior. You guys wanted the other side totally silenced and unable to push back.

LOL this is complete crap. When Twitter was under Dorsey there were Flat-Earthers, dumb conspiracies, racists, retards, and everything else. In fact it was literally the exact same people that are on there right now

Reality is, a handful of people like Alex Jones got banned, and then people like you pretend like everything ever is gone from Twitter.

Everyone goes to social media for their info now. That is why Musk bought Twitter. He knew that was a much better source to influence the population. And it is, he can insta-reach millions every tweet, it is significantly more reach than CNN has currently. And he can throw out lots of unpopular political opinions under the guise of "free speech" which MSM can not do.
Everyone goes to social media for their info now, but the difference between twitter and why a platform like bluesky doesn't really take off is that on twitter, news is a major content driver and people(on the right) engage with it, discuss it, what it means, if it's real, if it's logical, share it etc. On bluesky when it comes to news, people(on the left) mostly just listen and most people who went to bluesky did so to follow someone who left twitter, so in essence they're only there to be told information shared by an influencer who makes the same point as on CNN, ABC etc.

Bluesky you create your own feed set up and filters. It's biggest issue is just a userbase.

But Threads is gaining on Twitter. And Threads has a decent lineup of active celeb and athlete users.

    https://www.threads.com/@stephencurry30

Instagram is setup now to where they throw Thread posts into Instagram feeds, which has a much larger userbase than Twitter. Threads is going to eventually eclipse Twitter.

BlueSky has the cleanest set up and feel of all of them, the hard part for them is convincing people to look their way when everyone is so used to looking at what is currently established.

You were not allowed to be "racist" on Twitter. You couldn't even flirt with being racist. It was a f'n left wing safe haven where you could get suspended for any perceived insult or microaggression towards a "protected class". Basically anyone who wasn't straight or white.

The intelligence agencies were meeting with company heads on a routine basis and instructing them to censor accounts that were helping to spread opposing narratives.

These events we're arguing about weren't that long ago. I refuse to believe you can "misremember" things this badly.

You just don't want to admit you were on the wrong side of history.

Hey look at this, a Democrat admitting they were fooled by the MSM narrative, and furthermore admitting that Biden f*cked up.

Secondly... I thought Propaganda wasn't needed anymore in the No Kings thread?

what is your definition of propaganda? From the Oxford English Dictionary:

information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view.

So basically the entire MSM is propaganda in 2025.... but propaganda isn't needed like it used to be?

You're just turning this into a semantics debate over what "propaganda" means.

If you wanted, you could declare that we are all spewing propaganda in here. All over social media people are spewing propaganda. If it is just throwing about opinions and trying to convince others to think a certain way.

    Very similar to just "advertising"

In the other thread it was in regards to war. WW2 times vs now. And no, the US no longer needs to convince the population that it's coming war is justified. Trump may say this and that, and tweet out that he is doing the right thing. But we no longer need mass propaganda to sell people because we no longer need a trillion troops to storm beaches. We bomb and that is it.

I mean obviously. Where are all the uncle sam posters for this Iran war? Pointing at us and saying "we need you"?

we didn't need to justify our occupation of Iraq? Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, and yet we didn't have to sell a WMD lie to the public?

WTF am I doing? debating a teenager that isn't old enough to remember recent history?

U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell holds up a vial he said could contain anthrax as he presents evidence of Iraq's alleged weapons programs to the United Nations Security Council in this Feb. 5, 2003 file photo. Powell's claims about the weaponry, all of which have since been refuted, were used by the Bush administration to sell the world on its imperialist invasion and occupation of Iraq.

Operation Desert Storm (Iraq) and the occupation of the Middle East happened without any warning or propaganda at all.

The post 9/11 invasion to follow would happened no matter what we thought as well. And the entire population thought is that the US was going in to steal oil. No one was for that war. Bush Jr was horribly unpopular for it. You must be the young one here if your memory was something else.

You sweet sweet innocent mind. Believing that our Government actually cares about our thoughts

So I see you're going to disregard the WMD propaganda all together.

Yes, I remember Bush talking about taking action before we see a mushroom cloud.

And no, they weren't horribly unpopular when the war was launched... it was after the fact that no WMDs were discovered.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public...vasion_of_Iraq
Public opinion in the United States on the invasion of Iraq

Following the attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001, United States' popular opinion was seemingly for an invasion of Iraq. According to the CNN/USA Today/Gallup Poll, conducted on October 3–6, 2002, 53% of Americans said they favor invading Iraq with U.S. ground troops in an attempt to remove Saddam Hussein from power. The American public's support for the war fluctuated between 50% and 60% during the aftermath of the attacks on 9/11.[6]

When asked whether or not the United States should attack a country that has not attacked the United States first, the American public's opinion was in support with 51%, whereas when Iraq was embedded into the question the attitude shifted and there was a shift to 66% of Americans agreeing that the U.S. should be able to invade Iraq first.

Wow.... I'm surprised there's an entire wiki page about public opinion.... since the Government doesn't give a f*ck about it.
