You clearly missed the point. But considering the source not shocking.

Exhibit A:
Reddick upended what otherwise were fairly reasonable talking points when he dipped into the 'plumbers and firemen' shtick.

I'll throw in a hot take. Bob Cousy is WAY more talented than JJ Redick.
The way Bob Cousy reads the floor and facilitates can't ever be taught. He's got big hands and long arms - and looks like a natural handling the ball in spite of the fact that he never lifted weights or committed to defensive footwork drills like JJ Redick did.
JJ was in the league because he worked really hard - spammed disciplined patterns to stay on rosters and is and was always a strictly an inside the box thinking type of player. He's 6-4 with a 6-3 armspan - not even talented other than his height in a traditional sense.
Cousy is closer to 6-1 but likely has an armspan and hands a lot bigger than JJ and again, just a natural vision and feel for the game and an understanding of it that is deep and can go way outside the box. He has spoken at length about his own thinking process behind basketball and you can tell he can go an inch wide but a mile deep on the simplest of basketball concepts. JJ I've heard speak at length and he comes across as a dude that wants to impress you with terms and pattern recognition but really can't play around with any of it by rising above the trees and looking at the forest to understand because at the end of the day basketball is simple - at least in the minds of the greats... hearing JJ talk showed me he's overcomplicated a very simple game and that tells me the game probably came to him too fast with too many variables - thus explaining his role throughout his career.
Cousy can lead a team. He's got leader qualities and a basketball IQ that I think transcends any eras. All the other details about changing eras becomes moot in my mind. For all their training and talents 95% of the league today still can't see a floor and deliver a pass like Cousy displays the ability to see and pass in his game tape. Don't care about moves or whatever - his era was called so tight he's an outstanding ball handler for what he was allowed to do and was a solid enough shooter as well. Don't @ me about percentages. That era was officiated way way different. You pick up on the details and infer how it would change everything you'd understand he was a decent enough shooter and an outstanding ball handler - with transcendent IQ and / or court vision.

Imagine being so lame that you actually argue Bob CousyÂ’s status in the league?
