They added it in 1989, if you removed the All-NBA 3rd team throughout history guys like Pierce & Allen would've only had one All-NBA selection too, while Reggie & Worthy would've never made it once.

I'm not so sure he'd make All-NBA 3rd Teams if they existed in his earlier years. 1988 and 1986 would be he best shots. Adrian Dantley avg 29 ppg in 86 and he didn't make 1st or 2nd team. Mark Aguirre 26 ppg on a 53 win Dallas team in 88 and no teams for him. By 87, the younger guys like Malone and Chuck had passed him by. Before that, King and English were regulars in the teams.
