Well this is why I posed the question. Are you outraged over the n-word itself or the intent of his words? Genuinely asking. If Hogan had been caught saying "black trash" instead, are your feelings any different?

The same people outraged over Hogan saying a mean word in private are often the same people who call others mean words in public. If you call an upstanding law abiding american a nazi, a racist, a white supremacist, a klan member... that's fair game. I've been going back and listening to some behind the scenes interviews with a lot of wrestlers. From what I gather Hulk Hogan was resented by many of the wrestlers. A lot of them say he was a lying politician who was always looking out for himself. After 20+ years of wrestlers airing all their dirty laundry and saying all this terrible stuff about him, not once did you ever hear anyone say he was a racist. In fact since the controversy almost every black wrestler he ever interacted with during his career came out in his defense and said the opposite. But these are actual grown men, not sensitive children who get offended over a mean word.
