Not even star stats. If he was even playable but hes been awful. Not worth dealing with at that point

The Clippers are a total shambles, one of, if not the worst franchise in American team sport history but a badly broken clock is correct twice a day. This was one of the smarter moves they've made in recent years.

I don't know why the thread title says it doesn't seem acrimonious. It was a straight up slap in the face.

It didn't seem like people were mad at the time of course I didn't have much info. It is now looking acrimonious.

Because people are individualizing the incident, and viewing it through their own life experience to determine what's "fair". Everyone has been mistreated by their employer, laid off, or fired.

So they view the Paul v Clippers through the lens of their own experience; and side with Paul because they see themselves in him and the Clippers being the heartless corporation just like the one that mistreated them.

This leads them to the refrain of "Clippers mistreated Paul", "it was his farewell season", etc.

Nevermind that Paul was clearly a clubhouse cancer and that was felt by teammates and coaches.

Individualizing the incident also causes fans to view Shams claim that Paul was "trying to hold people accountable" as noble instead of seeing him as an idle complainer who overstepped this bounds with teammates and the coach.

Maybe Paul shouldn't have been treated this way, but you can't ignore his own conduct that led up to this.
