Name the best basketball players from each country
Name a country (outside of the United States) and name the best basketball players ever from that country.
And, talk about their style of play and what made them good. And anything else you can think of
-
Germany- Dirk Nowitski. Absolute beast, can shoot outside and drive inside and rebound as well.
China- Yao Ming. While people critisize him he still is 7'6''.
Spain- Pao Gasol. 7 footer with a smooth inside game.
Italy- Andrea Bargnani. Will prove in time he belongs with the other international greats.
Canada- Steve Nash. Quick and makes others better.
Argentina- Manu Ginuobli. Great scorer and does everything well.

Local High School Star
1.The old Yugoslavia: Drazen Petrovic. He was very competitive and had an amazing work ethic. He was probably the most skilled player Europe have seen. Great shooter who always tried hard to win. Definitely a special player. We miss you Drazen.
2.Brazil: Oscar Schmidt Becerra. This guy averaged over 30ppg in Brazilian league at almost 40. The best 3point shooter ever, although he was drafted by the Nets, he kept playing in Brazil and went to Spain, where he amazed with his scoring abilities.
3.Spain:Pau Gasol. Everything has already been said about him.
4.South Korea: Ha Seung Jin. He can scare opponents by just getting in front of them.

NBA rookie of the year
Italy- Andrea Bargnani. Will prove in time he belongs with the other international greats.
Let's wait about 10 years before we give such a title to a youngster.
Respect to Dino Meneghin.
Greece: Nikos Galis (incredible scorer and passer, though only 6-0 tall, he was taking it to the hoop rather than shoot 3's).
Puerto Rico: Jose Ortiz (played for the Jazz in a few games).
Israel: Miki Bercovic or Doron Jamchi (spelling?).
Philippines: Ramon Fernandez
USSR: Sabonis, followed by Sergei Belov, the "Russian Jerry West".
4.South Korea: Ha Seung Jin. He can scare opponents by just getting in front of them
Hmmm, Wiae Hur was a legend.

England: Luol Deng

Don't forget the legends ya'll
Brazil-Oscar Schmidt
a true bad boy for the 80s
Yugo (and its subdivided present) - Drazen
he would have never beyotched out with a lead in the fourth quarter and folded the tent the way Vlade and Peja did in Sacto against the Hollywood Flakers a few years back.
France - F. Weis
This one is actually a joke, but if he never balled, Vince would have never jumped over him in Sydney and we all would have been robbed of the most amazing bball highlight of our lifetime.
-
...
New Zealand - Sean Marks - good solid big man, first NZer to play in the NBA. Got some nice skills it would be cool to see him get some more court time with the spurs.

Kirk Penney is pretty good too.
But the most underrated Kiwi has to be Lindsay Tait. Dude is better than Delonte West IMO.

Yeah Kirk Penny is good, great shooter hope he gets some pt in the NBA eventually. Tait is deffinately a star for the future, too bad he shattered his wrist. He coached me for a few sessions last year in Auckland, hes a real good guy, and a damn quick first step.
