Try to stay positive man - celebrate her life.
I'm sorry to hear of her passing.

My sympathies. We enter and exit this world alone but we profoundly touch people along the way. Spend your life passing on to others the gift of love your friend gave to you.

Just hang in there and whatever helps you cope, do it. A few weeks of indulgence to get past things won't kill you. Sleep a lot too. It does get better.
It always hurts when people are gone but the alternative would have been never to have known them.

It's rough stuff man. My boy died last September from brain cancer; he was a PhD student at Stanford and only 30.

Re: My Bestfriend just passed away last night.
that's very brave of you to share something so personal, yet so tragic.
this past december, i saw my grandfather pass away right before my very eyes. it is something my uncle and i will never forget as we saw him on his last breathe.
i hardly posted on ish during that time, but i still lurked because it gave me familiarity and of course the lulz to keep my mind off of grief.
but even in sadness, there is always something positive. since my grandfather passed, my moms side of the family has gotten a lot more closer then ever before. she always had a dysfunctional relationship with her siblings, but now, they've all made up and have been working together to take care of my grandmother (who's living with my mom now).
it's such a beautiful thing to see, and i know my grandfather is really proud and happy they're finally getting along.
i am deeply sorry for your loss, but i hope you can find strength. it will get better and life will return. i still tear up here and there, but you will get through it.
may she rest with love...

Re: My Bestfriend just passed away last night.
Sorry to hear that.
Last summer, one of my close friends got in a car accident and wasn't wearing her seatbelt and got ejected. Still a teenager. Now her parents are getting a divorce and the while thing is just a mess.
In October, my brother got in a serious ATV accident and was in a coma for about three weeks. He's not the same anymore. A lot slower in the head and you can tell somethings wrong with him by just talking to him. People don't hang with him as much anymore cause they are weirded out by him. Pisses me off.
And just today my Dad said his gf's daughter is back in the hospital with kidney problems again. We thought she'd be ok, but now its getting serious again and she needs a transplant.
Keep your head up man.

Time will heal all wounds man. It seems really hard now but in time the intense feelings will go away and you will be able to remember them without feeling sad.

He accomplished a lot but that's still sad. I know a Stanford Alum headed to NASA that died in a car crash a couple years ago. You just never know which day is your last.
