If Pippen carried MJ then it would make sense that Pip should have a MVP or Finals MVP in their 6 championship runs. After searching in the database. I found ZERO for Pippen.

MJ won 6 Finals MVPs and 5 MVPs in 1 decade.

    Case closed.
Clutch ability is not a thing - Jordan just took more shots.

He didn't have to carry scoring load - he was allowed to because Pippen did so much else.

Nah MJ didn't carry Pip ONCE Pip came of age in the league! Before Pip hit his stride, MJ was starting to go into having 30+PPG-8dimes-8boards seasons. He had a season like that and was EASILY CAPABLE of having more of those seasons. Plus he a DPOY on top of all that! Over time, Pip developed a floor game just as good as MJ's. And grew into a 20 PPG scorer. So that evolution took a HUGE LOAD off of MJ floor game wise. Before that, MJ had to be the top scorer, defender, and assist guys for the Bulls to be relevant. Once Pip was able to be the dominant floor game guy, it enabled MJ MORE ENERGY to dominate scoring. While ALSO providing his great floor game. If Pip NEVER EVOLVED and the Bulls stayed pat with that same roster, they don't win ANY RINGS!!!

In terms of OVERALL roster depth, the Bulls were CLEARLY BEHIND Doc-Moses Sixers, Showtime Lakers, Bird's Celtics, and Bad Boy Pistons. So to dismiss how Pip REVOLUTIONIZED the SF position can't be overlooked. He combined Dr. J type size and athlete athletic ability and Hondo's floor game into one package. That combo was NEVER seen before at the 3 spot. He was the initial blueprint to today's point forward. G Hill and Bron evolved what Pip did as time went on. Only knock can give Scottie is the fact he never was an alpha dog scorer. It likely cost him a shot at the GOAT SF crown at one point. BECAUSE he had double the rings Bird had back in the day. And even today has DOUBLE the rings Bron has! But among players who WEREN'T alpha dog type scorers, it doesn't get better than Russ and Pippen!

MJ matched Pippen in assists during the regular season and led the Bulls for 6 of 9 playoff runs alongside Pippen.

So he matched Pippen in assists, while having a goat scoring lead - 10-30 more than Pippen in every series - only MJ had to win all his rings as scoring champ and scoring far more than the 2nd option

Goat scoring lead over 2nd option + equal assists > equal scoring 2nd option and small assist lead

The ONLY thing that MJ was #1 was scoring. Every other year Scottie reigned supreme.

    Pippen sucked dude

Only new fans of the game build him into something he wasn't

No one in history was carried more than him

Only MJ had to win with that garbage - a sidekick that was never doubled, never hit a big shot, shot horribly, always scored goat amount less than #1 option, had worse than 14' Wade stats

So THIS is the famous 3ball that everyone seems to think I am. Smh. Anyway, to say that Pippen sucked is inexcusable. He was one of the 50 greatest players back in 1997 when they announced it, and I'd say that he probably still is. You can't deny Pippen's contribution to the 1990-93 Bulls 3-peat, as well as his performance when Mike left that first year in the 1993-94 season. I mean, Pippen finished 3rd in MVP voting that year.

Not to mention, Pippen is one of the greatest perimeter defenders, ever. A 10x All-Defensive player and he did that within his first 12 seasons of his career. That is remarkable. I can't think of a better perimeter defender during the 90s other than Gary Payton. I would say Mike, but defensively he was better on the ball than help-defense, particularly after 1994. Pippen was the best of both worlds, not to mention he was a good rebounder.

Having said that, Pippen's play in the 1990 ECF against Detroit in game 7 where he shot 1-10 was one of the worst performances, if not the worst performance, of his career. He scored just 2 points and if he had just played half as good as he normally did, then the Bulls would have won 4 chips in a row. In addition, Pippen's performances in the 1996 finals and 1998 finals were just bad. His shot selection was particularly bad and shooting percentages were abysmal.

Still though, Pippen is one of the all time greats.

Btw, the idea that Scottie carried Michael is erroneous. MJ never had a terrible playoff/finals series, ever. Pippen had many. This is an awful thread, lol.
