They didn't have any excuses last year, but with Lebron/AD injured and clearly not at 100% all year due to the shortest offseason in NBA history, the Clippers REALLY don't have any excuses this year. They should easily make the finals and win the West. If they don't...I'd have to consider every player on that team a pretender.

Their excuse last year was they had horrible depth (lou, montrezl harrell) and a horrible playoff coach in doc.
Now they replaced Lou/Harrell with champions Rondo/Ibaka and have an elite playoff coach in Ty Lue.
Kawhi is never a pretender after his 2019 playoff run. Now Durant? That's a different story.

Rondo\George\Kawhi is the greatest trio in NBA history when all players are their peak, it's still the best trio in the league today. Been chasing Rondo's ass around for a year now and finally got him! He's the missing piece. Going to squeeze 3 years out of Rondo at 35, 36, 37 years old and win 3 titles.
