They played better teams in the first 3 rounds for sure. When were they playing sub-.500 teams or bottom 10 offenses and without facing a single 50-win team en route to the Finals? Well just look at the rosters. That’s where the talent gap comes. The 2-4 contributors in the finals for the Cavs were Gooden, Boobie, and Sasha Pavlovic. None of them would even be starters on the Spurs. Perhaps barely even rotation guys.

The games were close because the pace was slow and Lebron, despite shooting poorly, controlled that aspect and was excellent defensively.

The games being close doesn’t make the supporting cast better than they were.
