Dwayne Wade gives an interesting perspective: "he didn't go for shot fakes". Wade definitely had a long list of guys he could bait and kirk wasn't one of them.

Kirk bought that fake for like 2 games and was on to it. We used to talk about it all the time. Kirk was good at picking up your tricks. He gave Ray Allen hell one time too. Held him to something like 10 of 30 shooting. I’m sure it wasn’t literally that but in my mind that was the number.

dwade was unguardable. I remember the match-ups he had with kirk hinrich during the ben gordon luol deng bulls era.
wade would drop 40 point games like its nothing right now with the lack of interior defense

I read a stat that said the average FG% in the restricted area was 55% in 1996-97 and it's now 69% in 2023-24! The volume of shots there has also gone way up.

That's out of control, Silver needs to do something. Allow physical defense ffs.

Fantastic quickness, reflexes, agility, balance, and coordination. It always amazes me how some guys can look so athletic on offense but not on defense. Effort is an element but athleticism is also complex and specific. Some guys just aren't good at the reactionary component of defense.
James Harden had an explosive first step and was probably the shiftiest player ever on offense. Looked like his feet were stuck in cement on defense.

I been saying this about Hinrich. Morons never understood. I saw it in prime Wade, and Kobe’s face against him. Underrated cause he’s not a fetishized black athlete who is long and jumps high. Dude was a beast on ball defender

He would be perfect for this era where teams value 3 & D guys.

I believe it
players play more finesse style under the rim you dont see as many hard crashes under the basket and players dont contest everything. athletic players get to the rim and dont get mauled anymore.
would have extended the careers of guys like rose and wade.
the only player in the league that attacks the rim recklessly like prime dwade is ja morant
dwade would poster these bigmen like its nothing

Yeah, definitely. I could see prime D Wade putting up 15-20 two-point shots per game while shooting 55-60% on those shots no problem. Probably even 60+ some seasons. Just too much of a power slasher for this small-sized, pick-and-roll, dribble hand-off, switch-heavy, open-court, spaced-out era.

Guys are less likely to force a shot at the rim for a bailout, and are more likely to shoot the bailout 3 instead?

Sexton attacks the rim recklessly. Unfortunately he's not built like Wade
