Completely take yourself out of the game because you have one move you keep going back to (dribbling through the legs and settling for a 3).

Gotta have a mid range game in the playoffs, bud. Contrast with Luka who basically sealed the game on a pull up mid range shot.
Ant usually has a better midrange, but this game he was 5-12 from 3 and only 1-4 from inside. That's not winning basketball for Minnesota.

Ant has a midrange game he just didn't use it tonight. For some reason he actually shoots a lot better from midrange in the playoffs, almost 50%.

Kyrie wasn’t going average 15 again. That was part okcs defense and part by choice to let Luka and role guys cook. He had to do more vs minny and everyone knows he’s capable

Ant was completely gassed in the end, no doubt from chasing Kyrie all game.

The problem is, what else are they going to do?

Put Jaden McDaniels on Kyrie and have Ant guard Luka an entire game? That won't end well either.

    Conley?

This seems like a problem for Minny.

Dallas defense is much better than denvers. They actually have 7 foot shot blockers and PJ or DJJ can switch everything. The only thing they have to shore up is Luka not leaving mcdaniels open.

Dallas was taking that away tho. They have length, they were doubling. These are complex defensive schemes nowadays, it’s not 1 on 1 vs Craig Ehlo.

Luka’s like 4 inches taller than Edwards, it’s just easier for him to go to the midrange and get a shot off.

kyrie would shoot 68%FG against Conley, and still get 8 assists after the doubles.

I personally would like to see Edwards switch to Luka, since we would get at least ONE really great, high stakes conference finals matchup, of two perennial all-stars 25&under. Ain’t often we get that kind of show.

Yeah, and Wolves are lucky af that the Mavs don't have Kleber for this series, or the Mavs would be feasting on offense. Toody will have more impact in this series because the Mavs have a non-shooting big out there which allows him to defend closer to the basket and make it harder for Luka/Kyrie to get to the rim.

They left McDaniels open by design and honestly it was the right thing to do, regardless of how well he shot from 3. Odds are he's not going to make his shots like this for the rest of the series. He's a below-average 3PT shooter in today's NBA and a low-volume one at that. If he's taking 9 threes a game that's a win for the Mavs. Mavs can't leave anyone else open and they want to take away those driving opportunities from Ant, and have Luka closer to the basket to be able to rebound the ball and get out on the break.

The few times he did that in this game Luka had 0 problems taking Ant to the rim, he even spun around him on one of those plays. He can shoot over Ant & McDaniels no problem.

I'm sure the series isn't going to play out like this, but sure seems like Kidd got the best of figuring this out.

It happened again. Lively a game high +19. Everytime he's in the game Dallas is winning. He can guard the rim, board, and can actually switch on Ant or anybody for that matter.

Dallas stole game 1, and learned ALOT in the process.
