Lightbulb Re: JJ Redick is Lakers new head coach?

Reddick certainly has the mental and social makeup to be an effective head coach at the college or pro level, ala Billy Donovan. Reddick can connect to and manage difficult egotistical personalities, and certainly has a deep deep understanding of the modern game, and a vision for the future of it, that would be on display with how he would change the lakers roster and sets.

LeFraud likely lobbying heavily for it, ever since they had that moment of drawing up the ATO.

I wouldn’t be surprised if JJ discussed Bronny’s upside and usage cases within his visions, with Bran, after that was filmed. Or some other similar seed planted on that day.

I don't mind him as the top assistant coach but no as the head coach. It's a recipe for disaster to get him as the head coach with no coaching experience.

It's fine to get a complex experience for his first head coaching gig. It's a bad idea If you are seriously trying to win a championship. Fortunately LA is not a serious contender. If he manages to not get fired after a year I'll call it a relative success.

I don’t get these direct-to-head-coach jobs some of these players get right after retirement. Derek Fisher and Steve Nash were awful coaches. Jason Kidd was too until he got knocked back to an assistant position and then later got a bit better with the mavs.

I don’t care about basketball IQ and acumen or your ability to envision schemes. That’s like 20% of coaching. How are you in the locker room? Can you control players? Can you work with an inpatient front office? Can you get on the podium every night and do PR for your players when they are terrible? But then maybe this JJ Redding hire is just a front for the true lakers coach next season: LeCoach!

And no I will not correct my spelling. Browsing this site from a phone is next to impossible as it is without having to amend autocorrects
