Dont you see some real Home cooking in La La Land media wise?
NBA trying to punish Physical defense of PISTONS. and historically more defensive minded East Conf. in general.

Ryan gave MJ a pitty vote.
Bob Ryan is a die-hard Celtics homer that doesn't like this flashy kid potentially threatening his beloved Celtics.
This was obvious to many people then and now.
This idea that we'll punish MJ for his high steals by saying he was just a gambler isn't supported by anything - the stats show him locking down nearly every primary matchup to 35-43% shooting... I will eventually make a thread showing each series with these stats... So his record of individual defense is unparalleled, while his help defense is also goat, along with his leadership, aka GOAT perimeter defender... No one is close in these 4 areas - individual defense, help defense, passing lanes, leadership.

Re: MJ's 1988 DPOY is now being "Questioned". HOME vs ROAD Steals has twice as much G
In 1988, there were two teams with road records above .500, compared to half the league today (15 teams).. Accordingly, the "normal" level of home inflation that occurred in prior eras was due to tougher road conditions and the resulting poor road records compared to today's teams.. This explains a "normal" level of home inflation in prior eras, while the one-offs of massive home inflation that we saw from 88' Jordan, 90' Hakeem, or 86' Alvin Robertson were likely due to personal issues that affected their home/road performance in that particular year.
This makes a lot more sense than assuming that the 80's were just dumb people and dumb record-keepers that came to the game in flip-flops, wrote the stats on the back of an envelope, and had a league-wide conspiracy between record-keepers to inflate everyone's stats.. This is less likely and basically impossible compared to the 1st paragraph above that lists facts about bad road records in previous eras that caused "normal" inflation, while cases of massive inflation were one-offs due to personal issues, for example.

It's common knowledge that die-hard Celtics fans like Bob Ryan hated Jordan's flashiness and took every opportunity to crap on him... Larry Bird was the only Celtic that kept it real about MJ back then

I never paid attention, but the word Klutch alone brings so much butt hurt to Jordan stans. I wonder why

You're demented. Jordan wasn't even top 10 in DPOY for 1987.
1993 Hakeem had 90% of the 1st place votes in 1993 and was 1st team all defense.
You have zero clue.

Hated him so much that he voted MJ for DPOY even though he said Cooper was the better defender.

Not If MJ is doing his 3000 200 and 100 as LAKER or CELTIC back then.
believe me, those teams will force media to vote for their new superstar. who is making steals and blockshots look cool.
They will run circulars saying how its about time a non-center wingman wins DPOY over big men. its good for the game.
Remember, to win DPOY, all you need is a 60:40 Split. Nobody cares about unanimous DPOY.

That's how great MJ was defensively that Bob Ryan couldn't deny it but still gave him back-handed slap while voting for him with the absurd comment about Cooper being better defender.. A defensive specialist with zero burden on offense that comes off the bench STILL cannot get even half the steals of blocks per possession as MJ
you guys are losing the dpoy argument badly and exposing yourself, but you don't even realize it... you don't realize this crap has been debunked and many people will never realize that this has been a fraud perpetrated by Lebron and Klutch.. but carry on in ignorance..
I'll say it again - the "normal" home inflation that occurred for everyone in previous eras was due to really bad road records compared to today's teams (much tougher road conditions).. So that explains the "normal" inflation, while the massive one-offs of extreme inflation like 88' Jordan, 90' Hakeem or 86' Robertson are likely due to personal issues that affected their home/road performance in that particular year.

Because he rewarded fraud steals and blocks

no he wasn't - that's a lie that you believed - subjective stats cannot be reviewed because there's no reason to believe the 2nd subjective ruling will be better than the 1st.. I posted a gif of one of the plays that Haberstroh talks about and it was a Jordan steal!!!.. These are subjective reviews of close calls and anyone can reverse a few by taking the most negative interpretation of every play.
Here's the actual facts that aren't subjective - 2 teams had records above .500 in 1988 compared to 15 teams today - these tougher road conditions and poor road records is why we see normal levels of home inflation in previous eras, while the one-offs of massive inflation by 88' Jordan, 90' Hakeem or 86' Robertson are likely due to personal reasons that affected home/road performance for that particular year.
