Lebron needs to retire next year
He's hobbled/injured once again come playoff time. That makes 3 of his last 4 playoffs where he is probably playing at 70% (2021, 2023, 2025).
Whatever happens this year, he should tell everyone in the offseason that next year will be his last so the Lakers can properly account for that.
Lebron's been out of his prime for years, but he's getting close to being truly washed with all of the nagging ankle, foot, back, and goin injuries.

Re: Lebron needs to retire next year
He's likely making AllNBA if he plays enough games so your take is nuts. He likely should take load management to the next level where he intentionally takes 30 games off but if you're a top 15 player getting 50 mil c playing with a possible top 5 player and a team that just needs a few good moves to be a top contender why leave?

Cause it's time bro. No one wants to see Lebron go down the Kawhi Leonard path of playing only 40-50 games. Lebron's bigger than that, much bigger. If he can't be a superstar all year AND be healthy come playoff time, then it's time for him to hang it up. I mean...next year will be season 23...it's not hard to make the argument that's it time to retire after 23 seasons.

It's weird how people don't realize how hard it is to make 50 million dollars.

Come on man...he doesn't need the money nor does he need to lower his legacy by going the "kawhi" route. Either he's a healthy superstar all year or he's retired. We don't want the "wizards MJ" version of Lebron or the "post-achillies Kobe injury" version either" Theoretically having Luka on the team should help Lebron stay healthier next year, but these groin injuries and other nagging injuries can pop up any time.
Lebron and the Lakers should retool for next year and give it one final push.

Please clap.
Re: Lebron needs to retire next year
He's averaging something like 24, 8 and 8. No one with any sense would say he's anything short of incredible for his age. He iseither the best or second-best player on a team with legit championship aspirations. And he's making 50 million dollars.
No, a guy does not need to retire just because he's no longer in the MVP conversation.

My main point in the OP is Lebron can't stay healthy. It doesn't matter what he does in the regular season because he can't make it to the playoffs healthy. He just messed up his groin again in the Rockets game. He's had one healthy postseason since 2020, which was last year, and that was a first round exit.
It's just time for the guy to hang things up soon, ideally at the end of next year. At this point in Lebron's career, who cares if he is a 2nd or 3rd team all-nba player and then gets hurt come playoff time. It just doesn't do anything for Lebron's legacy anymore and he's legit getting worse as a player every single year.
I clearly have higher expectations for Lebron Raymone James than you do.

Re: Lebron needs to retire next year
OP can't STAND the fact that LeBron is still elite. "Make it stop he! " he says

Re: Lebron needs to retire next year
I am a LeBron fan and I agree with you. He is number 1 in the all-time scoring list, top 3-5 all-time, his legacy is well-cemented. Just take a break, go off to the Caribbean and enjoy life and family. And when you fancy come back and become the GM or CEO of an NBA team. No need for such troubel at his age.

Re: Lebron needs to retire next year
The guy's still producing at an All-NBA level and has the potential to win another title, and you want him to retire?
Absolutely retarded

He isn't winning another title. You know it and I know it.

He still has a plausible chance, the Lakers are a flawed team, but LeBron & Luka in a series are capable of taking out almost anybody.
The guy can be retired the rest of his life, he has only so many years left he can still produce at this level. I'll repeat it again, saying he should retire when he can still ball and is on a contender is retarded.

Life goes on.

dude if you can make 25 mil+ and continue to build your resume, why wouldn't you keep playing? I would. Brons life is gonna hit him hard as **** when he does retire. He's old, his son is trash, etc...

He legit had to leave the Rockets game yesterday early, looked like his groin issue flared up again.
