They basically have to have an induction every year in order to generate $$$.

Lauper's bio in the link is pretty funny.

Cyndi Lauper probably is on the Roll side.

As hip-hop already being included in the RnR HoF for years, Outkast does make sense somewhat.

Who else should have been inducted instead of those then? Here are some from a list I found: Anthrax, Asia, B-52s, Blue Oyster Cult, Canned Heat, Crosby, Still, Nash & Young (as a foursome), Bryan Adams, Dio, Devo, BRIAN ENO, The Guess Who, Billy Idol, INXS, Iron Maiden, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, Lenny Kravitz, Huey Lewis & The News, Living Colour, Meat Loaf, Megadeth, Motley Crue, Motorhead, New York Dolls, Oasis, Pantera, Pixies, Poison, Iggy Pop, Scorpions, Slayer, Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, Styx, Twisted Sister, Weird Al Yankovic.

Some of those bands don't be in the same sentence as the others but most of those artists hould be in yes.

I would have thought Cyndi Lauper was already in, I mean she hasn't really been relevant since the 80s, but she was an absolute 80s icon with several hits that define that entire decade.

I do wonder, why did she finally get it now? Like suddenly in 2025 they were like "okay, she was a big deal" And they didn't realize this you know, back in 2005?

    Weird timing IMO

Anthrax, Dio, Megadeth, Motley, Pantera, Twisted Sister don’t belong. Just not enough influence, hits, longevity, IMO.
I think the Pumpkins are questionable too. And I don’t think the Dolls belong. Influential, but overrated. Pixies are probably a no as well.
Lauper belongs. Pretty much every dude on here can sing the lyrics to at least two of her songs. Devo belongs too. And probably Huey, although not my cup o’ tea,

    Joy Divison/New Order
    The Smiths
    X
    The Replacements.

    Completely irrelevant.

Halls of Fame are meaningless in the virtual age. Before the internet it was cool to take a road trip and go see all these decades of history concentrated in one place. There was also finite space in the museum and you had to be more selective about who made the cut.

Now we have all the info at our fingertips and you can just add as many people as you want. It really doesnt matter. I'm not saying it's bad that it's this way, just that it's irrelevant who's inducted.

It's pretty much become the pop music hall of fame.

Some of those bands you named are actually pretty huge deals, just not in the larger pop sense. Motley Crue has sold 100 million albums. Megadeth has sold 50 million. Dio is close to being a metal god. When it comes to 90's alternative rock Smashing Pumpkins are elite company.

Lauper was a huge pop star but she's not a rock artist so she shouldn't be in.
