I was literally in this thread posting my own opinions in a calm manner. The projection on your end is real.

Duncan pretty much played at an MVP level all season while Kobe was a damn near cancer during the regular season, that's when Kobe really started to rebel against Phil Jackson, he for sure made up for it in the playoffs, especially vs Duncan and the Spurs which is why I won't argue too much if someone picks him.

We're talking about the start of 99-00 season to the end of the 08-09 one. Duncan and Shaq were both past their primes in the 2nd half of that decade and KB shit on Duncan in the POs too many times for anyone to pick Timmy just off those 10 seasons alone.

Duncan was very arguably a better player for more years during that time frame than Kobe.

Again, anyone saying that it isn't close between one or the other is full of it.

5 of the 10 are locks for Kobe and he made it out of the WC twice as much as Duncan in those 10 seasons despite 3 of them being wasted on bad teams in the middle of his prime. Eliminating Duncan 4 times while taking his soul in 4th quarters elevates KB quite comfortably. Tbh the argument is between Kobe and Shaq but Shaq was out of his prime by '04. It just works out for KB in this stretch because he enters his prime at the start of the decade.

'06, '08 & '09 are the only locks for Kobe, and even in '06 Duncan performed better in the playoffs than Kobe did.
