Default New York Times 100 Top Movies of the 21st Century

The New York Times compiled a list of the 100 greatest movies of the 21st century. More than 500 filmmakers, stars and influential film fans were asked to vote for the 10 best movies (however they chose to define that) released since Jan. 1, 2000. Perusing some of the individual ballots reveals a wide variety of choices and tastes and often precious little overlap. Still, from all that data a ranked list of 100 was compiled.

how is interstellar at 88? wtf

and parasite was good, but nowhere close to #1 of the century.

anyone not on drugs knows the list is a joke. christopher nolan is the best director of this century thus far though.

It appears to be a list compiled with data from other filmmakers and cinephiles. You can disagree but it’s certainly not a joke. They often look for different things in a film than people who just watch movies to be purely entertained.

Idk, I think Parasite & There Will Be Blood for great arguments for #1. Interstellar is way too low, I agree.

They put "Y Tu Mama Tambien", but I think "Amores Perros" was a better Mexican movie.

I think Gone Girl should have made this list. I loved that movie when it came out.

Edit: Gone Girl did make the list, didn't see it somehow.

there will be blood has top 10 placement for sure. and i agree about amores perros being better than y tu mama tambien although both are great films.

i have a hard time understanding what the criteria is in the first place. interstellar is top 50 for sure, i think maybe top 25 given how amazing the score is, the visuals and storyline.

I mean you’re entitled to your opinion

Glad to see Zone of Interest so high. Almost nobody talked about it because of Oppenheimer/Barbie but I thought it was the best movie of the year, and the year was stacked.

I think Sideways should have made the list. I thought this movie was going to suck ass from the looks of it, but I was laughing my ass off and really enjoyed the story.

    Parasite?! A gimmick movie?

They wanna humiliate Americans putting a foreign movie at 1.

Get Out is a decent horror movie, what the **** is it doing at 8th best movie of the century?

You could only make that claim if you make that movie political/see some "deep meaning" in it.

This list is designed to demoralize.

I'm surprised at the hate for Parasite, calling it a gimmick movie is wild.

You can call "everything everywhere all at once" a gimmick movie, but not Parasite.

Agreed on Parasite. I think it's almost a perfect film.

It's better on second watch too.
