Oleksandyr Usyk vs Prime Mike Tyson
Oleksandyr Usyk beats Prime Mike Tyson. Tyson struggled against 6'3" and above boxers who uses Jabs. Tyson also lost to James Buster Douglas at 24. I got Oleksandyr Usyk via UD, or 10th round KO. Usyk is the best Cruiserweight who jumped From Heavyweight since Evander Holyfield. Holyfield beat Mike Tyson twice. Every time Tyson fought a real boxer he lost the fight. Usyk is one of the best pure boxers in the game.

Prime late 80's Tyson is one of the hardest boxers to rank. On one hand, he was dominating everyone, but at the same time he was beating lots of no names, he struggled against better competition in the 90's, but many people claim he wasn't in his prime by that point.
I wonder how '88 Tyson would have fared against prime Holyfield and Lewis. I tend to think he is slightly overrated. He was a massive favorite against Holyfield when they first fought in '96 and got schooled.

I think Usyk would pick him apart. His feet are really good and he’d avoid the initial onslaught that Tyson always came with and then just slowly chip away towards an 11th round knockout.

50/50 Fight. If it ends early Tyson(80's). If it goes the distance Usyk

I think 80's Tyson would of washed lewis because lewis didn't hit his peak til he got Emanuel Steward as his trainer. Holyfield just had Tyson's card. He would of beat any Tyson. He didn't fear him.

Why is Buster Douglas used as a reference point? That was pure luck. One of sports top upsets in history.
I’m taking Tyson. Oleksandyr Usyk hasn’t even fought many heavyweights. He’s the best cruiserweight of his time for sure. All time it’ll be between him and Evander all time. I favor evander because he was relentless at cruiser. Altho I’d like to see him vs James Toney.
As far as Tyson give me prime Tyson. I don’t think he could withstand the power shots (including to the body) and aggression from Tyson. His advantage vs the HW he faced was his speed and agility. He wont have that vs Tyson. The idea is he could outbox and take Tyson the distance for a win. GETTING there I’m just not seeing. I see Tyson winning by KO.

It’s not just the agility with Usyk though. He’s a very sharp and accurate puncher as well with an almost spidey-sense when someone is on the attack. Always reverses it.
I know Tyson wasn’t in his exact prime in the 90s for many reasons but he also had a period in the late 80s where there was a lull with heavyweights. Holyfield took him to school and was a smarter boxer, as Usyk would be.

A prime Tyson vs Holyfield is a different fight.

Usyk is smart and crafty, and has a tough chin as well. I'd take Usyk over Tyson.

80s and 90s fighters can't hang with today's athletes. Now they too strong and too fast, better technique, more statistics, better nutrition and hotter asians to keep mike distracted

What a horrible take.
He hasn't fought many heavyweight but he fought the best of his era and beat the all. He dominated Fury, Joshua and Dubois lol. (all of them twice btw)

Fury has been overrated ever since he beat a hyped up 1 dimensional Heavy in Wilder. Joshua is overhyped and a limited Hesvy. Kudos for beating these quality opponents but I don’t see them as legit great Heavy’s. Which in turn having a small sample size of Heavy bought comes into play for me. His cruiserweight career will be highlighted more than his Heavy…for a reason. Hard to even argue that. Usyk came into those fights as the small Heavy which was a huge advantage for him. Mike would be in Usyk shoes in those two faced off. Usyk doesn’t like body shows and aggressive in your face, crowd your space fighters. Does it mean he automatically loses to them? No. Does it mean he doesn’t look as good? Comfortable? Yes. Is he thrown off? Yes. So you take one of the all time great heavy’s in Mike Tyson whose prime was ferocious. Whose prime was short lived. And place it in front of Usyk? I take prime Tyson all day. An upset would have to happen. Prime Mike was a much better defensive fighter, body shot puncher than at any point in his career. If Usyk can naturalize that and make this a fight we go the distance? He has a chance to win. I don’t think the fight makes it there. Usyk has never fought anyone similar to Mike Tyson.

If anything, Tyson never fought anyone like Usyk. Tyson never even fought a southpaw, in the 80Â’s coaches would convert them so they could get fights. A few guys who can switch effectively from time to time? Sure. But no true southpaw. And all fighters look uncomfortable against fighters looking to crowd their space because they have to use adjustments they wouldnÂ’t normally make, but Usyk handles it as well as anyone, see: Dubois. And Usyk can take away a lot of TysonÂ’s advances if he can get the angles, which Usyk really is the master of and may be the goat at.
It looks like mobile fighter with a reach and a good jab gives Mike a ton of trouble, but then again that wasnÂ’t young, motivated killer Mike Tyson when he fought Lewis. But we donÂ’t have much to go off of since Tyson never really fought anyone in his prime. I looked up the Pinklon fight since Tyson stated himself it was his toughest opponent and that was Tyson at his best- Pinklon was a cement footed fighter with no Philly shell(another thing Tyson would probably struggle with against modern fighters, HolyfieldÂ’s entire gameplan was to jab with high guard and reach and switch to crab when Mike got close) and Pinklon was also smaller Usyk, so if thatÂ’s any indication then the rep is true, Tyson fought no one in the 80Â’s.

Tyson had a power aura about him that when he was focused could basically cripple you with a short flurry of punches. I honestly dont think anybody could take him at his peak focus and physical condition. Straight pit bull he was.
