Doubt Wemby ends up top 5 in MVP voting. Both teams here might miss the playoffs.

    Source?

I don't think we're ever going to get an honest answer but yes I think he's 7'7" at least.

Wembanyama had this to say recently:

"It's amazing that my height has been an issue so far," Wembanyama said. "I don't know. I'm bigger than the other players. That's all," he said.

"Over time, 'key' became a very meaningless topic for me. To be honest, there are a lot more interesting things for me."

Wembanyama also said, "Please look at me as a complete basketball player, not a tall one."

"I don't think about my height. When people see me, they ask, 'How can I be so big?' My answer is always the same. I tell them I don't know. For the rest of my life, I replied."

In other words, he's a height liar. Again, not the first one in league history. Durant and Garnett did it also for sure, understating their height.

Nobody thinks he's only good because of his height. That's some weird insecurity he has going on. Anyone that thinks that is a straight up retard. We've seen guy's his height or close to it before and they're stiffs.

Really is weird that guys would ever be insecure about this. Probably had some ignorant kids and parents give him a hard time about it growing up.

If he stays healthy, this is a terrible take.

I doubt the Spurs miss the playoffs if Wemby is healthy, and if he is? He has as plausible of a chance at cracking the top five as anyone else, even if his team is just first-round fodder.

These races are usually top-heavy enough that the top five is up for grabs beyond the 2-3 frontrunners. Hard not to expect someone with Wemby's numbers getting most of the leftover votes as long as he plays enough games.

Being top 5 in MVP voting wouldn't prioritize team success as much.

SGA finished top 5 in MVP voting a few years ago and his team didn't make the playoffs, and a healthy Wemby is a more dynamic player.

Wembanyama still needs work offensively for sure. He rushes things a bit sometimes and the Spurs have a hard time getting him the ball sometimes.

That being said, lol. Players just routinely fumble the ball and or throw it out of bounds if he's near them because they're confused as to what to do. Never seen anything like that. His defensive impact is so far #1 in league history he is the best player ever. But the Heat are making the Spurs pay by camping Wembanyama down low because Bam is hitting his 3s.

I'm not sure if it's Bill Russell level, but it is for sure at least on par with any other top tier defender that came after him.

I don't think we will ever see another Bill Russell on defense in terms of overall impact for the fact that the league was so different back then, the fact that there was no 3 pointers back and spacing in general was terrible meant Russell contested a shit ton of shots near the paint. He wouldn't be as dominant if he played today though.

Spurs improve to 5 and 0 for the first time ever.
