Possibly in the 2010s, but certainly not in the 90s. CP's flopping *** would get brutalized in the 90s. Stockton was one of the toughest players of all time.

Terry Porter took a huge dump on him in '92.

Stockton had amazing longevity, but during his prime was was a tier below guys like Nash & CP3.

Hell, Kevin Johnson was better than Stockton for a few years.

Id say porter and johnson each had a year at his level offensively. Nash played one end of the floor. Thats where he stands out. There were guys comparable for a year as he went on for 2 decades playing every night at both ends. Paul was the most comparable but hurt too much.

Shams Charania: Joining @SportsCenter AM to discuss details on Ja Morant's one-game suspension with the Memphis Grizzlies and what's next: There's been tension in the last several days around Ja Moran and his feelings toward first year head coach Tuomas Iisalo’s rotation patterns, his plays, but it really culminated after and during the loss to Lakers on Friday night in the post-game locker room. Morant and Iisalo had an exchange where Iisalo called out Morant’s leadership and effort in front of the whole team, and as teammates and staffers all looked on, Morant responded in what the team deemed an inappropriate and dismissive way, according to sources, and that's when the Grizzlies, the team officials, huddled up. They levied a one-game suspension on Ja Morant that he will serve on Sunday in Toronto.

So not only is he bad at basketball and stupid away from the game but now you can add locker room cancer to the list. lol. There are few less desirable contracts in the NBA.

On his level for a year? Kevin Johnson was probably better than Stockton on offense for a few years. You can argue Mark Price one year as well, in particular '93. The difference is Johnson & Price didn't have anywhere close to the longevity Stockton had.

The only argument Stockton has over CP3 is longevity, even though CP3's longevity is kind of underrated, he finished 5th in MVP voting as a 35 year old while helping the Suns make the Finals.

Comparing their prime years, CP3 kills Stockton.

I thought a year at the time. The difference is longevity, durability, consistency, efficiency, playmaking and defense. Not being a scorer at the 1 wasnt considered a negative at the time. If you want to look at it through a modern eye i guess you can talk yourself in to thinking those guys were better. More willing scorers. Price was a better shooter. Payton was a better defender

Why would I concede anything when I'm clearly right? Nobody with an IQ even in the low end of the normal range would say Morant wasn't good in '22. Averaging almost 30 ppg (27.4 to be exact), all star, 7th in MVP voting, all NBA, MIP award. There's not even a case to be made that he wasn't good."Bu-bu-bu-bu-bu-but record without him!!!" Yep, cool story.

Interesting, although hardly surprising, that the only people try to say that Morant was never any good are Bronie fluffers. So predictable.

    That's cute.

Grizzlies were still 20-5 without him that year while beating championship contending teams in the process.

And you had him as your MVP winner.

Nash was a better playoff performer than Stockton.

The crazy thing to me is how people think guys like John or Manu were awesome defenders. They were mid at best. Utah had poor defensive ranks for a contending team and Manu is known for making more crucial bad defensive plays than good ones.

Alll three of these guys? Manu, Stockton, and Nash? 90+% of their HOF impact came from offense. But Nash did that the best by far. He was a BS suspension away from being an MVP champion.

Nash won an MVP without Amare one year.
