I haven't watched. I don't know. But, is Cooper Flagg dog shit compared to his hype

Well, he did benefit playing for a stacked team by the time his career started. But if he stayed with the hornets, then that wouldn't be the case at all.

Who knows hes only 18. Kobe was terrible at that age. Many were. Got to see how he develops. From the looks of it he can be a longer Gordon Hayward.
No, you're just as dense as the rest. I implied that his boxscore stats were dog shit compared to his hype, and they are, which would then lead to the overall question. I also said I haven't watched the games so I don't know one way or the other.

His hype is about ceiling. Hes 18 starting at a new position on a team playing to win

Yea, he's just 18. There's still a lot of room for improvement. But the hype seems to have coincided with dallas getting him in return from the luka trade earlier.

He's bad at basketball. He's always been bad at basketball. He will get even worse at basketball.

Hey it's almost as if I was upfront, repeatedly, about the fact that I didn't watch.
Clearly nobody else in this thread did either. lol.

Watched him in the game vs the Rockets. He can play. At the NBA level, he can create his own shots, shoot from deep, drive past defenders, move smaller defenders out of the way, distribute the ball. He's still 18 yo; I would give him 2-3 years to reach his potential, and get to all-star level.

He doesn't have the keys to the team. He has good players around him, so it's not like he's given free reign to run the team. AD is the best player on the team and after a few months, Kyrie will have the ball more than him. He has to figure out his role, or show he can be a good PG that they can slide Kyrie to the 2.

He needs time he's been asked to do a lot more from the get go because AD & Kyrie are injured
We forget he's still 18 playing against grown men

Well... you shouldn't call someone a piece of dog shit then when you have minimal info or perspective on them. Couldve asked in a much more neutral manner.

Re: I haven't watched. I don't know. But, is Cooper Flagg dog shit compared to his hy
He isn't making his shots at a high enough level at the moment, and he's turning the ball over too much. As others have said, I think it's a product of him playing a new position while going against grown men for the first time. It's a bit much and it shows. Guys are playing hard against him too and making it a point to beat him to his spots.
That said, there are a lot of good things that aren't necessarily showing up on the stat sheet. He's physically already there, been good on the boards, rotates very well defensively and never seems to be out of position, and is not being bullied on that end at all. Also is showing to make quick decisions with the ball and pushes upcourt well.
I think it also should be said that he hasn't missed a free throw yet, which could indicate that the shot will eventually come around in other areas once he settles down and gets better at finding his spots.
Overall too early to tell much but he certainly doesn't look out of place.

32/32 on FTs when preseason is included. 40/46 (87.0%), including Summer League. 182/208 (87.5%) including the last 27 Duke games. 219/259 (84.6%), including the entire freshman year.
His FT shooting gives me confidence in his shooting potential.

Exactly all this.
He's absolutely passing the eye test if not the box score test. I thought it was hard to get a read in college how big he would look/play at the NBA level... but thats clearly not an issue, even at 18. He'll continue to have an edge in physical dominance at the NBA level.
His fluidity and awareness and general skill level also look to me miles ahead of where it was at Duke just a year ago. He just needs to wait patiently for the shooting to come around.
He may not be a phenom/savant in terms of instincts like Lebron and Luka were at 18... but hes obviously got all the physical and mental tools. His efficiency should also go way up when Kyrie is back on the court because then he'll be finishing baskets a lot more often than creating them from scratch which isnt his specialty yet.

The same was true early in the season at Duke but he got past it. They just need to stop this pg nonsense.

Re: I haven't watched. I don't know. But, is Cooper Flagg dog shit compared to his hy
The other promising thing about him is that he's built pretty sturdy at the appendages. Most peoples arms and legs streamline as they go outward from the body, making them more vulnerable at the ends. Cooper's got like very even mass distribution along his limbs, it's a pretty unique build. His forearms/wrists and lower legs are very solid. I wouldnt be surprised if he ends up having a prime-Lebron-esque resistance to serious injury. Altho thats very rare so it's far from guaranteed. But I think hes got a good chance of staying healthy most of his career.
