I threw this game on to fall asleep to last night, and Jokic was getting absolutely cooked on defense in the 1st quarter (I fell asleep in the 2nd). Zubac and Lopez were a combined 6/7 against him to start the game, and they were going right at him. I also counted 3 easy layups for the Clippers in the 1st that Jokic was in some sort of position to contest as help, but didn't bother to jump or even get his hands up. He needed to go off on the offensive end to balance this out, which he did....but he looked even worse than usual on the defensive end.

Zubac has defended him well sometimes in the past. I could see the Clipper's strategy here, and it did work at times. Zubac took some shots he only took knowing that Jokic was not going to jump to contest them. Jokic was just too much at the offensive end.

It's a very effective strategy. Just it's early in the season Jokic isn't going to be that gassed. In the POs it works because making him score makes him spend more energy and they're also attacking him on the other end, so he wears down. If his jumper is falling there's little u can do tho.
